age of conan

hi

can anybody tell me about this game, im thinking about getting with to play with my friends (who are also thinking about getting it) and just wanted some info from people who play it

is there a free trial to test it out?

Never played it but heard it is all but dead... I left WoW for Warhammer Online and like it way more... I love PvPing and WAR calls it RvR whatever the name, WAR is geared more toward it and taking/defending keeps is most fun u'll get in an MMO, IMO. Just get an active guild and dominate!!!

get lord of the rings online and mines of moria expansion instead.

seriously AoC is horrendous.

 

Actually Conan is absolutely the best mmorpg I have ever played (and I have played more than a few) from levels 1-50.

Its the endgame and PvP balance which needed work which is why I left.
Conan recently changed a bunch of things and I may start again myself.


Warhammer is dying... the endgame is worse than Conan. PvP has been reduced to "everyone plays X or Y class or you are a wasted slot".
The major seiges are a lagfest on a quad-core SLI 8800 Desktop, and the graphics are now worse than WoW. The PvP is fun for the first few times you try it, then gets old in a hurry and is reduced to "Quake with swords" very quickly. A friend tried to rope me in, but grew tired of it in a hurry, so I got to try it, but thankfully never bought it.

No comment on LotR as I have never played it and have no desire to...

I am currently playing Lineage2... at least if someone tees me off or their name if annoying, I can kill them...

 

If you got a bad impression of AoC when it first launched, you will most likely be suprised now if you come back to it. They have worked on a lot of stuff, bugs are all gone from what I can notice, and they just added a lot of new content for lvl 60+

 

Dude stay aawy from the trashy games and just wait for Darkfall!

 

The game mechanics wont allow you to have anything that even remotely resembles a heroes name from the LOTRO mythos.

Anyways, to the OP:

I tried Warhammer. Hated it. I don’t like PvP and it does get reduced to Quake with swords. If that’s your thing then it would be awesome.

I liked WoW for a long time but am horrendously bored of it. The expansion did more to kill it then it did to breathe fresh air into it. More of the some… WoW is about getting the best gear and hanging out somewhere where everyone can inspect you and you can feel like you have a big d!ck. If you keep raising the lvl cap and making new stuff then you don’t ever feel like you’ve accomplished anything. WoW is about owning peoples faces and feeling like you have a big d!ck. That’s hard to do when they keep raising the bar. Other then getting uber lut it’s a pretty shallow game…

LOTRO is really fun, but it isn’t for every one. A real world budy of mine doesn’t like it at all were as I love it. He strait out told me the only thing he cares about is uber lut and feeling like he has a bid d!ck. LOTRO wont bring that feeling to you. It is all about exploring and questing. I think its one of the greater MMO’s but that’s because of its laid back, relaxed play. No one (really) has an ego. Never have I ever had that grinding XP to lvl feeling in LOTRO. I just enjoy the world, enjoy the rich setting, enjoy the story, and lvling comes as a second thing… But some people don’t like that...

Age of Conan took some things WoW blew at and improved it. All I can really say about it is its pretty gory. Over all it was pretty passé… wasn’t really impressed…

It depends what you want.

Fast passed kill or be killed stuff. Warhammer may be your thing. Lay back and enjoy an evening at your computer with your buds, LOTRO would be your Huckleberry. Mix the two… WoW may be your thing…

 

Anyway, don't go for Age of Conan.
The game is good, only nobody is playing it ATM.
