Yeah, that seems about the right time for it's arrival.
After nVidia started advertising the 8700GT as it's new flagship, many thought it to be a sign for the late arrival of Go 8800GTX.

That was before the 8700GT being announced.

I'll believe the 8800M GTX when I have one in my hands. I just bought the desktop version of the card and the thing is monstrous. It completely covered the keyboard on one of the 17inch laptops here in the office, and the fan on the thing could probably cool your house.

I'm not saying it will never happen, but I'm curious as to how much they can shrink it, and if it's going to be seriously crippled compared to its desktop brethren.

They would have to shrink it. The 8800 series are monsters in size. I have a friend who has two 8800GTS' in SLi and they take up a large amount of room in his server case.

22" Laptop. And 6 Inches Thick + WaterCooling You have to hoock up to sink? That could work

Thats a desktop replacement in the true sense of the word. It is even using DESKTOP processors.

I'd bet they are just estimating the release of the 8800m's without any official information. You'll notice that they are charging 400 dollars for the upgrade, which is quite a lot coming from dual 7950m. It benefits them because they can make quite a bit of money if they are one of the only vendors selling this graphics option at this point in time so people will have to buy from them if they want that card.

People just need to wait. Nvidia has been getting their stuff out pretty quickly this year.

Hmm, aren't all desktop GPU's like 10 times the size off a mobile

I'll laugh when they build a laptop big enough to fit desktop 8800GTX's in SLI without making me breakfast. I'll laugh even harder if it does indeed make me breakfast.
