There was Gun back in '05, which was mediocre if reviews are to be believed. More recently, Call of Juarez got generally positive reviews. Even Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation fame liked it.

There's also Red Dead Redemption coming up in April.

Crap, I can't think of it off the top of my head, I saw an advertisement for it not long ago. It's an older game based of the Quake III engine (IIRC), but it's a total western 3D shooter.
I wish I could remember the name.

I believe it was the History channel where I saw the advertisement...

Red Dead Redemption looks like GTA IV but with a western theme. I hope they bring that one to the PC. Gun PC has got quite a few good reviews and is only £9.99 on Steam. Not sure how much the US Steam version of it will cost though.

Because it is GTA IV engine :p... extremely similiar, i cant wait.

I'd like game developers to make more western themed games tbh, theres a huge lack of them and that sucks since i love westerns

Call of Juarez was ok. Ended up being one of those games I was just playing for the sake of finishing it. I think the second is better, at least from the demo I played I'd say it is.

Call of Juarez has a great community as well. You can download the CHROME engine for free and make both single player and multiplayer maps!! You can DL others maps to play as well as share the ones you make!

I am currently judging a single player map making contest. Check out the forums at:

First call of jurex was a lot better IMO.

Second one suffered from console influence IMO. Still a good enough game for the most part.
