    Intel C2D P8400 (2.26GHZ)
    4GB 800Mhz RAM
    9600MGT Nvidia Geforce

I dont really care about the resolution as long as the game looks pretty. That means 640x480 if I have to lol.

So if I set the settings to medium, what FPS do you think I'll get.

This site is really inaccurate and outdated, and won't tell you anything about how well you can run it. The best way would be to ask on a forum, or even better - try it out.

    just on a side note...
with the game FEAR, if you do that res, with the lowest possible settings, it looks worse than any n64 shooter :).. infact worse than doom

not at a decent setting... dont think most laptops can run this game... you need at least an ati 4850 to run at mid setting

From the recommended specs, the game would run better with a better processor than a better video card.

Are you on Windows XP or Vista? GTA IV will definitely work on that configuration, just gotta tweak some of the in-game graphic options though.

The game is very CPU intensive, moreso than most games due to the heavy use of physics and such. I play it with a T7300 2GhZ at 30 frames though, just gotta tweak the hell out of it!

    And it still looks good!

The game seems to have major issues; poorly optimized, driver problems, lazy programming/coversion, take your pick. Steam were giving refunds on account of how much problems people were having.

I wouldn't bother with it, its just going to you off trying to get good performance.

really? how did you tweak it?

    btw I have vista x64.

Should I just wait until patches that fix everything comes out?

and whats the acceptable fps for this game? (for crysis it was like 25 unlike other fps's)

    Similar situation than you:

    Intel C2D 2.4GHz
    9600M GT 512MB
    4Gb RAM
    Vista 32

I'll buy it tomorrow and see what happens. I'd happy If I managed to get ~25fps with not so bad res/graphics.

If you enable FPS Limiter, the program cuts at 25fps, at least in GTA San Andreas was like this (totally playable by the way).

    More or less as expected:

    Settings:

    Res: 1280x800 (60 Hz)

    Texture Quality: Medium
    Render Quality: Hight

    Draw Distance: 20
    Draw Detail: 30
    Vehicle Density: 30
    Shadows Density: 2

Stays almost constant with little variations at 20-25fps. Good enough. By the way, I'm running 180.70 drivers, tomorrow I'll check if 180.84 take some benefits.
