title says it all. I need some visual candy (yes i know, gameplay is important). Games that don't need too much to produce some nice graphics, like COD. any suggestions?
-
lol, almost any game since 2008 has eye candy

Anything using the Unreal 3 engine looks great but does not require a lot of power.
UT3
Batman Arkham Asylum
Dead Space
Mass Effect
A few others as well.
Crysis is probably considered king of graphics but it DOES take a lot of system power, there is almost no laptop that can max it out, so it does not really fit the bill (had to say that before somebody posts Crysis on this thread)
The new Avatar game has a really pretty Crysis like environment and seems to run a lot easier. -
thanks Vicious! I like those games' graphics (googled). Except for Batman, the rest look good. Crysis looks good even with medium settings, so im not too concerned. And i must try that Avatar game, i never heard of it.
and no, i don't think any game since 2008 has good graphics. Bioshock 2 really disappoints. -
Funny you say that because I think Batman's graphics are superb. The entire environment is designed just beautifully.
Also, Mass Effect 2 has good graphics and it's not terribly demanding. -
Dragon Age looks pretty decent. I preferred the look of Mass Effect 2 though.
-
I agree, Im playing Batman at 1080p high settings and its georgous.
-
i like the looks of Mass Effect
thanks for the suggestions. But I did mention games that weren't TOO demanding yet still looked good. Can't possibly play DAO and Batman at 1080p high settings on this poor GMA 4500MHD. any more please?

+1 for Dragon Age, max everything and turn the physx effects on and it will alot more than just decent
-
Bad Company 2 is just amazing, be warned the combination of bloom, smoke and explosions will actually blind you, in sheer awesomeness and literally!

Again, he said not too demanding. BC2 is pretty demanding and does not have a whole lot of tweak room.
Batman is a good game I agree with the others, really pretty environments w/ awesome lighting effects, and lots of detail on the characters. Not to mention good gameplay and perfect voice acting. I consider batman a must play. -

Mass Effect 2 looks fantastic without making your computer cry.
-
Even though I was playing it on the lowest settings with bad FPS, Mass Effect 2 and to a lesser extent Dragon Age, look fantastic. ME2 in particularly also boosts very very very impressive art direction. Some of the best I have ever seen in a sci-fi title.
Half-Life 2, can look terrific still with the right updated visual mods.
The MMORPG, EVE Online is also incredible beautiful(but very complex) and doesn't take a very powerful computer due to the fact that everything is space. It's just the computer generating the ships and one giant Skybox. -

4500 MHD? You won't be able to play any of the games mentioned... Better wait for your 4670

The face designs in Mass Effect 2 are awesome (specially the aliens)
-
hmm looks like Mass Effect is highly recommended...it DOES hurt the computer (the HDD part of it. its so HUGE!!) EVE Online is one i should also try out...it looks really nice. Are there any other games besides FPS types?
-
World in Conflict is a nice looking RTS game. A bit dated, but still great game.
-
Agreed, any game running any of the UT Engines run awesome while looking great. I remember when playing UT2003, thinking damn, it plays so smooth and looks great while other engines like Source were running like crap back then and I didn't think looked as good.
Big fan of Unreal Technology since I played UT 1 original.
I know many here like Valve, but I hate Source Engine. That engine makes your computer work way too hard for such horrible graphics. L4D and L4D2 look awful, TF2 while I like the looks, doesn't deserve the hardware it demands... IMO Source is the worst engine currently used, looks bad and requirements too high for that garbage.
Modern Warfare 1 looked awesome and ran great on my G1, with Go7700, while L4D ran borderline crap, and looking so many times worse. Source, hate you so very very much. -
Well, it kind of does fit in this thread, if you use something like the CCC config, or the Master config.
-
world in conflict is NICE! im gonna get it
just a few more games before my hard disk space runs out...
-
Agreed. WiC and Company of Heroes are two of the best RTS games to have come out in the last ten years. But both of them require serious horse power.
-
any more else?
-
Wish I could say ArmAII but it needs tremendous horsepower. Graphically speaking one of the best photo-realistic nature environments I've ever seen. Even the stars are correctly done in night missions and move with the earths rotation. If you like nature and army games and have a good system, you might like this one.
-
I'd say C&C Tiberium Wars 3, with full details... or the most recent Stalker (if you like those kind of gloomy graphics)
-
Avatar does look really good i must say, i was just very dissapointed with the gameplay it really let it down, didnt have any depth to it it was same over and over again, just in different areas ( altho the areas and stuff in them was amazing to look at ) a big thumbs down for that..
and regarding bioshock 2.. yea the graphics were not top notch but had a great sense of atmosphere and it managed to draw me in,. still didnt like it as much as the first but i think the hype over 2 spoiled it -
I started play the new stalker today! its by far the best stalk of the 3, definatly the most stable. i reccomend it. the graphics are amazing if you can max it out which i couldnt but was still very good. especially the weather and day/night cycle
-
I always thought Oblivion was great to look at, and that's with the settings at medium. I know maxed out it looks gorgeous.
-
Heroes of Newearth, if you're into top view down (RTS) / team vs team / killingspree / RPG elements kind of thing. The graphic is astounding though, looks fantastic even on my laptop with 7900 GS.
-
@@ i hate gloomy graphics...Bioshock almost makes me feel depressed lol. Ok...HoN will be another one. TQ for your replies!
-
League of Legends. F2P and colorful/vibrant graphics.

I would recommend Far Cry 2 as well but it ain't that good. Get it if you want to see every different shade of brown there is.
-
Don't know if its been mentioned already, but the best grahpics I have seen is farcry 2, the gameplay is pretty good too.
But you can forget about clever AIs, or a good story.
Edit:
Ha, lol, and now I see the post above, and yes, thinking back, brown is a very good way to describe far cry 2, but don't fear, it's not in a doom way, things like the water reflections will make your jaw hit the floor! -
lol somerandomdude....i noticed it from pics. hahaha. But far cry doesn't seem to have a nice game play or story.
-
Metro 2033 is supposed to be one of the best yet. Uses Directx11
-
He's using an Intel GMA HD I believe.
-
Personally I like a challenge in games so I tend to go straight in at hardest or second hardest difficulty, and on farcry 2, on hardest difficulty the weapon degredation is insane, you will be lucky to get through a mission without replacing most your weapons.
For an example, I got a new tranquiliser gun and started shooting it, after 20 shots it jammed! (I wasn't impressed)
Also, you can't carry much ammo, 3 clips for each gun on hardest difficulty I think, on easy setting you can carry a truckload though, combining the 2 grenade launchers you prob wont ever need to use anything else, so it depends what you want from the game. -

Farcry 2 has to be complemented with another game. I played it for an hour or two after 4 h gaming sessions in Mass Effect 1 and 2 and it was pretty enjoyable

Company of Heroes is not very demanding at all. I play it at 1024x768 res with high settings. -
Metro 2033 is amazing, but seriously, someone over at GSC (Makers of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) should check their files, I think someone may have stole some things while they were leaving. ROFL!!!!

Has system requirements i can barely comprehend, 8GB RAM as an "optimum" requirement!!!? holy crap, toss the 4GB gaming standard away
-
SomeRandomDude Notebook Evangelist
Metro's requirements are suspiciously high
-
Dirt 2 has amazing graphics...

metro runs terribly on my laptop with fps at 30ish on lowest settings
if i max them out my fps drops sometimes into the single digits. thankfully i didnt buy this game and just had a friend install it using his steam account on my laptop to see if i could run it (saved me $50 ill have to buy him some brewskies later) -

Yay for the G73 8GB of RAM and a DX11 Video card stock config
But again the OP asked for games with good graphics and low system requirements, why are people posting all this rubbish about demanding games in this thread? -
simply...amazing....stunning.....8 GB of RAM. WOW. not sure if its really playable.
i think that should be enough recommendations for now. Too many games will kill me
thanks all!
-
All this talk about Batman makes me want to play it again....
-
Take that M17x and M15x fanboys! also RAM expandable to 16GB!
any games with GOOD graphics?
