I remember seeing an article of a guy playing WoW on his OQO. He had pics and everything. He said he was getting 30-40 fps with graphics at lowest settings. Pretty good if you ask me!

i think that's the same guy in my above post. i was just seeing what options there are out there for playing wow and if anyone has any experience or knows what specs i should be concerned with when comparing the hardware of the micro pc's.

I think to run WoW smoothly, to some extent, you'd need at least 1gb of ram. Most of these UMPC's run on Intel GMA 900/950 integrated graphics so you don't have much choice there. I can't imagine running WoW on a ~1ghz cpu but you don't have much choice there either, CPU power ranges from 900mhz Samsung Q1 and Asus R2H to 1.5ghz in OQO model 2. A lower resolution screen might be preferable here if you want to run at the screen's native resolution, larger text, higher framerate.

    Ultra Mobile PCs on Wikipedia
The site has a lot of good info. Sony and Samsung have created versions of their UX and Q1 with SSD drives.

I can't see doing anything more than chopping down a few monsters solo, checking the mailbox or chatting with guild members on a UMPC. From the vids I've seen and my personal experience playing WoW on old PC's, I wouldn't want you in my raid group if I knew you were playing on a UMPC. No offense. :)

VIA Cpus as well are really weak compared to other equivalents....so 1.5Ghz in effect isn't really the 1.5Ghz you might have in mind...

well, i found this site that has pretty good info on the UX90 with good results. you can do a search for 'micro pc forums' forums and it should be the first result. my main interest was being able to do simple things such as auction house, mail, move the character around, etc. haha no raiding. also, i cannot use a laptop up at work but a micro pc would be ok as it just looks like a pda. being able to watch movies, transport files would be nice too.
