hi, lol this is like my 3rd thread on this page.
anyway, i started up wc3 for the first time on my new laptop and it seems the highest res i can get is 1024x768x32, which is seemingly low compared to my old dead desktop. is there any way i can get higher res options?

go into your registry to configure it. I have to do this on all my widescreen devices.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\Video

change the resheight and reswidth. Remember when you do so, change the base setting to decimal unless you think in hexadecimal lol. Basically my settings are: resheight = 1200 and reswidth = 1920 (in decimal). Also make surfe the colordepth = 32 (decimal) or 20 (hexidecimal).

it won't change back... just don't go into the wc3 video settings and change the resolution. If it does change just repeat the registry stuff.

best res for your screen... just play in the native resolution of your monitor..
    2048X1564 is huge, what size is your monitor? I have a 24 inch.. and i'm running 1920 x 1200...
