Mine died yesterday. I'm covered under a 3 year warranty, but I'm wondering about the replacement -- there's no way I can get anything other than an identical 8600 gt, right? Which means, since apparently nVidia's only 'fix' was to just move along to their next generation of cards, that my laptop (Compal IFL90) is going to be likely to plagued by this forever.

Nvidia fixed the latest revision of G84/86. You'll probably get the latest one.

I don't think i could trust Avono in the UK to repair my laptop if it was faulty. Fingers and toes are crossed, touching wood and grabbing anything lucky i can.

Worst case scenario, you`ll get it replaced again, or if you push it, you`ll get a replacement system for the trouble, with a better card :p

Oh right, Asus + Europe =/= good support. In NA it's the other way though. My GPU entered their warehouse at 10AM and the replacement unit was shipping at 10:15

    As I said, push it.
It`s your money and you deserve a working system, don`t let them get away with it.

Maditude - your graphics card "died"? What do you mean? I've had my 8600m GT system for about 9 months and I think my card still works alright (although I need to get around to cleaning the vents soon!). I've only got a 1 year warranty so I hope my card will survive another few years at least!
