i think running native res on low look a lot better than 640x480
I dont dare to run crysis but its generally true for all games

well i run it in 800x600 cuz in the later stages....specifically the last one on the carrier the game runs real choopy...i think even at 800x600 avg fps at high setting is like 15-16 and very high is like 5-6....so i run it in windowed mode so although everything is very small i dont think the visual quality suffer but fps increase

Try the natural mod, you should be able to emulate very high with only the demand of high settings.

There is a setting in the Nvidia Control Panel, called Manage Custom Resolutions.
    Click Create,then Test,Ok, then you`re all set.
I play Assassin`s Creed at 1066x600 in order to play at 16:9 aspect ratio, max details and shadows so that I always get OVER 20 fps(when it dipps at the synchronization points),averaging 30.
I also played Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3 at 960/600(basically a quarter of my native resolution) at all high , respectively 5/5 details and got over 25 fps(crysis), respectively 60 fps constant(Ut3).
I`d rather play at a lower res and get the max details than play native and all low or medium. Unless it`s an older game .
I`m a fps freak, if I don`t get over 25-30 fps in a game, I lower resolution as much as possible, and increase AA to compensate.
