8gb of gddr5 memory will allow for basically high rez pictures to be mapped. so high infact 1080p will be the limiting factor. polygons will be high enough for perfect spheres. fps will be 60fps movies are 24fps. resolution will be 1080p the max for most tvs and pointlessly high when sitting back at a comfortable range. since in 2 years crysis 4 and others will be photo realistic. what points do pc gamers have over consoles given the fact consoles get better games sooner, and hardware doesnt need to be upgraded. seems to me this pivotal time of rezs overlapping aka 1080p may not kill pc gaming but seriously maime it. sorry typing on a smart tv. and please dont attack me as its just an idea. this forum 'needs' more contravercial threads...sorry i dont have very good spelling..dont use it you lose it

Their gpu's are already outdated, Radeon 7790 and 7850 ? that's all ? the R9 290X and 780 Ti litteraly doubles the perf's, plus it's not all about textures, if the rest of the system can't keep up they will have to go down to 900p as ever !

What this forum needs is less of your obvious troll threads. Even overlooking the eyesore of your lack of proper punctuation and grammar, you clearly don't know what you're talking about. PC gaming will never die; it's the current console model that eventually will. "PC gaming is dying/dead" is a straw man's argument that nobody with any common sense actually believes.

If your life is getting a bit too dull, instead of coming on here to create controversy, I suggest climbing Mount Everest or going skydiving.

If anything this next generation of consoles using standardized x86 processors will only help the PC as a platform.

As you may have already seen, the new consoles already struggle with "next gen" games. Xbox one in particular, has to run games at 720p to keep the performance on par with PS4 which manages higher res most of the time.

These new consoles altho much more powerful than the previous ones, are not going to make PC gaming end. Infact, they might serve as introduction to PC gaming. They already have all the "hassles" of PC gaming, with game installs, requiring large HDDs, downloading games to embrace digital distribution, games requiring patches to fix bugs etc etc.

On the other side, PCs have managed to incorporate some of the console ideas to reduce hassle, like nvidia GeForce Experience for your average joe. the effort of Steam Machines helps them just choose a set of hardware to start playing.

Meanwhile, main detractors from consoles are quickly rising. Between higher cost per game, and now putting features behind paywalls, a lot of features not ready for launch, and consoles struggling to deliver consistent performance at 1080p for 400-500dlrs... It is a bit early to call the end of PC gaming.

if the rest of the system cant keep up with what? polygons particles and textures make up the graphics universe. textures is what makes crysis 3 on pc jaw dropping not polygons and that sir is all the r9 290x and titan can do

octiceps how on earth am i trolling...your diff 4sure. to everyone else keep talking. i personally would like proof of xbone games running at 720p to keep up to ps4 and pc

These upcoming consoles are nothing compared to the latest graphics in computers. Honestly, I'll be surprised if these consoles even last four years.

Okay, let's keep it civil here.

Consoles are not the end of PC gaming. People say that every year. And yet services like Steam keep gaining new members.

In 1-2 years, the PC will have surpassed the PS4/XBone by a longshot. Heck, even the new 780ti/R290x have already proven themselves to be the console killers. Plus, PC's are already starting to move into the post-FHD hera, with QHD, QHD+ and 4K.

    Thread lock coming in 3...2...1...

Congrats OP. Considering your measly post count you must have the highest percentage of locked threads and deleted posts of anyone who isn't banned. But I know you're just pulling this for the lulz. There's nothing of substance here.

No way, there are too many PC-exclusives, awesome indie games, and the mod community is just amazing. Skyrim for example, on console you just bought the game and that's all you got, but on pc.... all the community made mods just blow the console version away. Not only do you get community-made graphics mods, but hundreds upon hundreds of hours of extra content to keep you playing the game with a fresh new feel. Console Skyrim, finish the game... and well that's it, nothing more to see here people.

And then there is SteamOS on the horizon, an operating system designed strictly for gaming on pc, made by a company that only works on pc gaming and has no shareholders holding them back.

And hardware, I really wont get into hardware, that has already been touch upon countless times.

PC Gaming, is it dying? No, in my opinion this is the year pc gaming will become stronger than ever while the consoles head in decline.

So called next gen consoles are already inferior to the PC in a huge way: Face-Off Preview: Battlefield 4 next-gen vs. PC • Face offs • Eurogamer.net With discrete GPU prices falling steadily, the value proposition of consoles becomes even less remarkable. They are great if you are a teenager on a very limited budget (e.g. mowing lawns or flipping burgers) but for any 18+ adult, there's no substitute for a good gaming PC.

Well, there's that (teenager with small budget) and there's also the fact that you don't need to worry about the internals of the console (drivers, other software, etc.), which is a plus in favor of the console.

However, what you say about GPU performance is spot-on. And, for around the same price as a Xbox One (~$600), you can build a fairly-decent mid-range gaming tower (Intel i5 or AMD FX-6300, GeForce 760 or AMD equivalent, decent cheap motherboard, reliable PSU, and cheap out on the rest of the parts since they're not important for gaming).

There are still a lot of good games which are only available on PC, so no, it's not the end of the PC gaming.
We were promised a death of the PC gaming a long time ago. I guess it just doesn't want to die.

Long live the PC Master Race!

PC Gaming is impossible to die. Because where are ALL games made on? For both consoles and PC? That's right, the PC. Also, as everyone else here said, PC gaming is only growing.

u need to read ...do some research...before u post questions like that. The Internet is full of articles how next gen consoles are not even close to PC gaming when it comes to performance and graphics.

Two simple facts that negate your uneducated claim:

1- Next Gen consoles have hardware designed for the "current-gen" PC. Yes, it is a quantum leap for consoles, but does not render it a competitor to PC gaming rigs.

    2- Moor's Law.
