I recently ordered a 1520 that is in my sig. I love the laptop but i have been reading alot about the ddr3 ram and how much it will improve performance. I got the dell for 1314 shipped and the g1 would probably cost me about 600 dollars more. Is the performance diffference that significant that it is worth 600 dollars?

I don't think so. I struggled with the same issue when I looked into the Dell, the Asus v1s and the g1s. I went with the v1s (DDR2) because I liked the appearance better and it was smaller. Don't use the GDDR3 as your only only factor in your decision. $600 is a lot of money.

right now no. ddr3 is not yet worth the price. i really dont think that u will see any performance increase at this time. maybe in about 6 months or so.

There is a slight boost in performance, but whether or not its worth it is up to you. It's not just the GPU that is included in the extra $600 though.

Do a search, there are a few dozen threads about it.

the GDDR3 version is only slightly faster (like 15~25% ;) than the gddr2 one, and thought it is faster, it is not worth extra 600 dollars

Ok thanks, i was wondering what a ball park percentage would be. Im very happy with the dell so I'll be sticking with it. I was running bf2 max settings/resolution and was getting 70-90 fps constant and lotro with ultra high settings 50 fps. Thanks for the replies :)
