Could you stick a link up for that lappy? And it's very probable that the game will play, the x1700 is a decent card. Also Rainbow six is quite old (If i remember correctly...) and this might explain the lack of an x1700 card being in the supported list on the back.
I've never really played the rainbow series though. How advanced are the graphics in Rainbow 6? -
I could have swore rainbow 6 is pretty old...i remember playing rainbow 6 on my desktop which was "well" equipped with a Nvidia TNT 2...Rofl.

this is the newest rainbow six its been out for about 7-8 months and havent played this one yet but want to when i get my new comp -
I think it should be able to play rainbow six with out a problem...at least on med-high settings.

the one i have in my hand is called rainbow six las vegas

Operating System: Windows 2000/XP
DirectX Version: v9.0c
System: Pentium 4 1.5GHz or equivalent
RAM: 512 MB
Video Memory: 64 MB
Hard Drive Space: 7000 MB
Like i said should play fine -
yeah the first rainbow six i played will play with those specs but this game has way higher specs than the first one ,have just been told las vegas has only been out for six months

Should still play fine. If it is a 6 month old game there is no way that a x1700, that was considered a mid range card, can't play it.
