hi guys, I have a alienware m17 r4 with an ATI 7970M, two months ago install windows 8, and for two days ago I had problems with the games,
especially in battlefield4 course.its happens with other games but less
I've been playing a few minutes when the fps go from 40 or 50 to 5 or 7 and is unplayable
I tried to install the latest drivers from ati, doing a clean install, but the problem continues
with dota2 is very rare to happen even after hours of playing, but with battlefield happens all the time , and if i wait like 5 min the fps come back to 40 is so wierd .
im afreid something is wrong with the gpu or something else .
I used the alienware program to check the pc and says everything is fine so i dont know what to do

Check your GPU temps. You may be throttling due to heat.

Can't be zero all the time if temps rise to 65C. Are you logging your gpu load with gpuz to find out if the gpu is throttling or not?

If you don't log your temps you might hit throttle temp. By the time you check later you won't see what temp it hit unless you log. Sounds like throttling plain and simple. I own the M15x so I know exactly what a throttling 7970M feels like (before I found a fix lol) You could try flicking stealth mode on and off again. Perhaps that will trigger the GPU back to full load but only if it is cool enough to do so.

Are your amd drivers the correct up to date for enduro?
Generally fps drops are power related with the gpu down clocking to avoid damage. It could also be cpu related so check for those temps whilst gaming as well.
Make sure you are on high performance power mode too in windows.
