    Hi,

    i placed my order

    Toshiba Satellite A100-192
    15.4"
    Intel core 2 duo 7200 2.0GHz
    ATI X1600 512mb
    2gb DDR2 RAM
    100gb HDD
    bla bla bla

I heared about 1600 256mb being great card, but never heared about 512mb version on laptop.

Can anyone please tell me who have/had x1600 512mb on laptop how good its is compared to 7600, or to X1600 256mb?
And also will it burn more power than 256mb, and if yes that will cause me a lot of porblems? :(

    Thanks in advance :)

I think the X1600 with 512 mb is reffered to as 'hypermemory', which means that there's 256 dedicated ram on the gfx, but it is capable of "stealing" an additional 256 mb from the system ram...

Not at all, though 256mb is better than 128mb.

Your ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 has 512 MB HyperMemory which means 256 MB dedicated and 256 MB shared.

In general the x1600 is not powerful enought to be able to effectively use more than 256 MB of VRAM anyway. It may dip into your RAM a little here and there though, but performance gains over 256 MB will be very small if any.
