The 360M is faster by a significant margin, thanks to it's GDDR5 vid ram.

For RTS, make sure you're getting an i7.

i7 is an intel processor, not a laptop brand.

An i7 is a quad core. For games like Supreme Commander, that can confer a pretty good performance boost. Just realize that getting an i7 will also confer a much lower battery life and greater heat output.

The 360m is a faster card, but the 4830 isn't a slow one. Look at the other specs of the laptops and see what you find important, because the Envy is quite different from most machines. No optical drive, all of the ports on one side, metal chassis that will get fairly warm with an i7. But it's also more portable than anything else in it's performance class, and looks sexy as hell.

The first-gen Envy had a 4830 in it. I would suggest looking at the 2nd generation Envy's if that's an option... the 5830 is a fair bit better than the 4830, and it comes with an i5 option.

I had thought HP was thinking of shutting down Voodoo.

Does Voodoo have a new website with updated products or something?

Ahh nvm. I see what they did, they did shut down Voodoo looks like and just moved the Envy name to HP.

yea I ment the 5830 lol sorry but I like the envy look more then the asus, I think the asus is ugly, I was at bestbuy today and the adamo was hot, but the asus isn't atractive but the card is nice, but the envy has all I need and is sexy, but i don't know how the 5830 will hold up and the and the asus has i7, which everyone says is better for rts gaming but its 400 bucks more than the envy, so is the i5 crap for rts

The i5 is not at all slow for RTS. The only thing is that the i7 is significantly better. It may also be better for future-proofing, since apps and games are starting to put quad-cores to good use.

You can configure the Envy with an i7, but it'll be a bit hotter and lower battery life. As for the 5830, I can run L4D2 at high everything, 2xMSAA and 2xAF at 1920x1080 and it'll peg 60fps in most scenes (vsync on), and never seems to drop below 30fps. Take from that what you will. The 360m is a faster card, but it uses a lot more juice and will run hotter. The 5830 is not a "bad" card by any stretch, especially since you can usually OC the RAM by 25% easily, and that's the main thing that's hamstringing the 5830.

Yeah if you are going for looks, go with the Envy.

If you want performance go with the Asus.

In terms of appearance, the Asus is geared towards a gaming rig look. Some people seem to like all the blings of LED lighting, fancy graphics on their case etc.

The current Envy you have to realize was made to offer a PC alternative to the MacBook Pro.

i would get the asus especially if ur playing RTS but if u can , why not sped 300 more and get asus G73? It would play all RTS games way better than both of the other 2 even at full HD res.

Now that there's a $1200 G73, it's the only Asus gaming machine it makes sense to own, unless you really can't handle a 17" machine.

The G51 is now a bad value.
