Not a bad preview, just a shame they only used 06 as that tends to be more CPU bound than anything else nowadays (although they still commented it was the fastest stock mobile system...but that may be thanks to I7), they also didnt tell us much about the performance in detail, or more intricate bits about the GPUs like do they have native overdrive support, what drivers were they using etc etc.
-
Wow, that's massive.
I really want one of these. -
I'm guessing 5.8cm includes the rubber feet? Because 5.8cm excluding rubber feet would make it thicker than the Clevo D900F, which packs desktop CPUs.
-
Yeah, probably so, but rubber feet will probably be 5mm, so it's still pretty huge.
-
Looks good.
I did expect more out 5870 paired with the i7 though.I guess a better review will be in order before I start complaining to much
-
But it's a PRE-view, they have to leave something for the actual review
-
umm why are there 2 3dmarks?
-
Sweet, 128 bit GDDR5.
Cant wait for the reviews to show up, and if it stays "cool" in gaming maybe il get one if i can afford it. xD
Thanks for sharing the link. -

One is at stock speed, the other with "turbo boost" mode.
I think `12k in 3d06 at stock is not bad at all, That's my score with SLI actually... time to upgradE???? -
One in normal, and one in Turbo mode (OC'ed both CPU and GPU).
-
Yes, outside of the lower clocks, it seems to perform equally to the desktop 5770. I'm scoring almost 17k on 3dmark but that's because my desktop Core i5 is eating the mobile Core i7 for breakfast. -
Yea not so sure why some people thought this wasn't what it was supposed to be, its scoring about the same as some high end SLI setups while being effecient, although thei7 does help in 06 a lot.
-
The rubber feet add about 2mm to the height.
-
I see the GDDR5 is only running at 1000mhz! I wonder why they didnt bump it to 1100-1150 like the desktop 5750 and 5770? It doesnt seem like a massive leap over GDDR3 800mhz
-
how does this card is compared with 260m gtx??
-
GDDR5=twice as fast as GDDR3. GDDR5 at 1000mhz=GDDR3@500mhz
-
are you sure it OCs the GPU too? I'm fairly sure that Turbo (at least in every single other asus laptop) only OCs CPU.
-
That's what she said!
Besides it's not Turbo, it's Twin Turbo :> -
Geez, that laptop almost beats my desktop in '06.
Also, that site just makes me appreciate notebookreview more, holy crap reading that hurt my eyes.
ati mobility radeon 5870 hands-on...
