I have a Gateway m675 XL. I recently discovered that you can succesfully underclock and undervolt your computer.
I tried that.
I downloaded ATI Tray Tool for starters and attempted to underclock it to 120:120. The benchmarking proved that it worked.
I restarted the computer.
Now it takes 25 minutes for my computer to startup and when i turn back the GPU to stock speeds. It's still taking 25 minutes to startup. Can someone help? thanks

Hi coldpack,
Strange. Did you underclock CPU too? That shouldn't be the issue with the GPU. Do you have the ATT set to autostart? -
No, And yes.
I didn't touch my CPU yet (long guide). Yes i set ATT set to autostart w/ a profile set to 120:120. This is KILLING me! i dont' want to reinstall windows b/c its such a headache -
Try removing the ATT from startup. See if that helps. If not, try restore point before ATT. I have never seen this. ****, and I thought ATT is good.

These are the steps i took for underclocking my GPU (9600 pro 64 MB DDR-SDRAM)
-download ati tray tool
-install ati tray tool
-right click ATT icon in task tray
-hardware > overclock
-set core and mem to 120:120
-saved profile and check autostart to respective profile
-restart.... power off(thought it froze)
-restart... safe mode 25 min later tada, windows -
i never set a restore point... =(
-
If you uncheck Autostart? Does it still need 25 minutes? That is really strange.
-
never tried. i uninstalled ati-tray tool and ITS STILL TAKING 25 minutes! lol
-
I really don't know what happened. Is your GPU performance OK? Can you play games? Is it still underclocked?
-
I'm just going to reinstall windows. F' it
-
I will however, undervolt my cpu. Its incredibly loud. I love my gateway! but the fans can be unbearable. They're more solid than all the dells i've owned in the past
-
Sorry to hear it.
Good luck, -
try uninstalling ur gfx card drivers then restart
