i'm planning on buying a laptop and here's the brand, model and specs

    ECS W341

    Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2250
    (1.73GHz, 2Mb L2,533MHz FSB)
    ATI Radeon x200m chipset
    shared up to 128 mb
    Wireless LAN
    512Gb DDR2-533MHz
    60Gb PATA Mobile HDD
14.1in. WXGA Glare TFT Color LCD
    DVD-RW Dual
    multiple card reader
    ATI X200m
    10-100Mbps wired LAN
    56Kb modem
    Weight: 2.5Kgs

New stocks priced at Php 30,995.00 (previously Php 35,995.00, i feel sorry for those who bought this lappie before it went out of stock 2 weeks ago..)

can this play medieval 2 total war decently?? how about warcraft III: Frozen Throne (DOTA), The Sims Complete collection, The Sims 2, and maplestory.

Pls help me T_T i don't want to blow my budget on a lappie that can't provide gaming fun after a day of hard work :p.

BTW the lappie wll be used mostly for office work and studies..gaming is only a bonus :p..but i do hope it can support these games T_T..

i'm open to suggestions on what lappie to buy, budget range 20-30K Php.

i have this option to just get myself the cheap 19k Php ECS lappie and then use the remaining funds to get myself a decent core2duo desktop priced at 25K+ (total cost of parts<processor, Mboard, memory, HD, etc..> to be assembled)..

It's not good for gaming. Capable yes, and more then enough for the some of the older games you've listed. But for stuff like Medieval 2 - it will technically work yes, however, it will run quite badly.

I would not recommend this card for gaming. I have one and it runs some games very well but some shockingly. There is quite a bit of difference between one x200 and another, so you can't be sure what you're getting. I'd advise one of the more powerful gpus like the new X1250 or better, something like an X1300 or go 7300 if budget allows.

well i heard this somwhere but since it shares mem its speed will be increased and faster when you have big and faster ram..

But the point still remains, even with the fastest Ram in the galaxy, the X200 is still a very poor card for modern gaming.

Ya I can vouch for the x200m having many "flavors".

For instance my old hp dv8125nr had a 128 dedicated x200m (i disabled the extra 128 shared)

It served me gaming wise at the time. I had FEAR running at 800x600 medium fps in the 20's

World of Warcraft 1680x1050 on an external monitor (everything on low of course)

So you may do a little better, maybe a little worse (depending on shared memory amount/speed and such)

    Just for reference it was:

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...4131&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

All same specs except mine had 2gig of ddr 333mhz ram

    I hope this helps!

Yea, and PLEASE buy more ram. 512 mb (GB? LOL) wont cut it when you have 128mb shared. You'll end up having, reguardless, a sluggish computer with 384 mb of RAM. Trust me, I had a laptop like that untill I upgraded it to 1.2 GB and everything was much better. Gaming was still mediocre though.

    Blue Radon-NW
    Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2250
    1.6GHz

DVD Multi Drive (don't know if its a DVD writer coz some say it is while others say it's not :p)
    512MB DDR2-533MHz
    80Gb SATA Mobile HDD
    13.3in. WXGA (1280x200) GLARE
    56K modem v.0.90/ v0.92
    10/100/1000 Gigabit-LAN

    6-cell Lithium Ion Battery
    Bluetooth, 3-in-1 card reader
    1.87 Kg

    w/ free Blue convertible bag
and Microsoft VISTA Home Premium (I think this is the cause of the high price >< stupid promos ><..if only i could get the unit without the free vista i bet it'l be alot cheaper probably around Php35K+, but the sales person said its not possible coz the OS and CD are included in the package when given by the company ><..sigh T_T..)

That's still a pretty weak gaming laptop.....not good for games either. The first one is actually faster cpu wise and the X1300, while definitely better then the X200, is still a very low end card...

No, the X1300 is better then the X1250. It goes by numbers in that series of cards - X200 - 1150 - 1250 - 1300 - 1400 - 1600 - 1700....and so on, each being me powerful then the one before it.

Dont look just the specification check 4 yourself what is the price in your country...is very cheap for this that you get in UK is under 500 £ which is exceptional...but in UK prices are higher because of the strong pound thats why check your price...
About X1250 I have a strong feeling that could be better that x1300 I know that originaly shouldnt be that but have seen review with over 30fps on FarCry..I think...couldnt believe it.
I am playing MTW2 at my desktop is interesting especially if you find some interesting mode .
Good luck and check carefully before you decide anyway !!!

the £ has a much higher exchange rate than the $ so when i convert it to Php the amount is very high T_T..i saw laptops with beautiful specs amounting to only a $1000 but when sold here the amount doubles...
