Hey guys and girls. I found a cool game. It's called audio surf and can be found at audio-surf.com. Think klax+guitar hero. You can download the demo for free and the full game is 9.95. You have to have a steam account. Best thing is that it uses your music to play the game. Each game is different and the notes are different depending on the dong. So if you have a fast song, be prepared for insanity. The full version gives you more ships. Another cool feature is it has leader boards. So if you are doing just casual, it competes you with casual. It will do global and also your state. Check it out. I bought the full version and love it. Found some cd's that I ripped to mp3's so the collection can grow.

Yep, stormeffect predicted steam to be the end-all-be-all of videogame distribution earlier in the year. Its the way to go. No packaging of material + no shipping = less cost to produce games = +1win for pc gaming and +1win for environment and +1win for cheaper games (counsil games are so expensive :-x) -
Good news Waterwizard! I've promoted you for being so loyal to the cul...err...organization.
-
Plus one desktop icon which gives you access to all your games lol (for those who like to keep it tidy)

If you're not playing the right stuff, it can be downright dull. But with some really great music that translates well, it's a LOT of fun. I listen to a lot of techno, electronic rock, and industrial, and that stuff - particularly stuff by Orbital, Icon of Coil, and early Static-X - can really make the game shine. -
Can you recommend any songs? I have emusic to use up this month and I see that there are mostly live performance songs from Orbital on there. A couple full songs are part of other compliations though...
Right so...song titles?

No wai!
I posted in that one too.

The song that seems to work the best for me is "Numb" by Linkin Park. (Even though I'm not a huge fan of "nu-metal").
Unfortunately, most of my heavy rock tracks don't work very well, because audiosurf doesn't seem to put much emphasis on guitar riffs. In contrast, guitar solos are amazing, and turn the game into a roller coaster ride.
Another good song to use with audiosurf is "Dani California" by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
The trick is to get a song that has a lot of variation in rhythm, and one that has a good vocal chorus. Songs that go both slow and fast are the best. I don't know why, but audiosurf likes vocals a lot for some reason.
For example, a song like "Breathe" by Prodigy is a bad idea, since the rhythm is so consistent and doesn't change much. (Still love the song though). -
I love Audiosurf! Some of the most fun I've had in a while, along with Sins of a Solar Empire, which is my GOTY so far.
STEAM is getting better and better as time goes on. There were quite a few PC Gamers that didn't really care for it at first, but it's come a long way and is now simply the best online gaming distribution center in the world, and the most popular. With PC Gaming changing and leaving retail, it's good to know that STEAM and others will be around. Just picked up Prey for 5 bucks the other day, that's just crazy. -

The Orbital stuff I've really enjoyed has been "Doctor?" and "Transient." But I just love Orbital in general.
If you want to see a really insane track, hunt down "Drag Me Down" by God Lives Underwater. It's just a straight slope down, it's nuts.
