A few days ago is the first time I had this problem. I was just repairing a helicopter from the inside and then it froze and kept playing about a quarter second of sound over and over. I couldnt do anything like ctrl alt delete or basicly anything except shut down. Then I performed power drain. Then I played bad company 2 again and the same thing happened when i was repairing a tank. Then I decided it might be in any game, so I tried other games and no it was not. I think after that I reinstalled bad company 2 and was playing assault and when done with the match in the score page it happened again! I have no idea what is the next thing to do other than keep looking for other corrupt bad company 2 files on my computer. Any help appreciated.
    thanks

I'd just uninstall BC2 and run cleaners like CC cleaner to get rid of all traces of it. Also would clean the registry. Than try reinstalling.

Lose the overclock on the GPU and see if it works fine.

noooooo the overclock i put to 700/1000 even though 800/1100 is actually the stock speeds since i modded the bios, and it happened again! I think I will just try uninstall again and run more cleaner crap and read more EA forums and eventually i will not find a solution and I will move on to crysis 2 when it comes out!!!

Did you happen to use RemoveWAT during your windows travels? This is known to cause issues with battlefield games / punkbuster.

There are several things that have caused BC2 to crash on me in the past, so try these things:

    1. Disable Steam Community In-Game: from Steam, right click BC2, properties, general tab, deselect "Enable Steam Community In-Game".

    2. Update punkbuster. Make sure you add BC2 in the punkbuster list and then choose "check for updates".

    3. Update DirectX

I disabled the steam community and yes I had tried the punkbuster thing and updating it, but I didn't know you could update directx. Please tell how to do so.

edit: I had uninstalled bad company 2 yesterday before which I did the punkbuster fix you mentioned. Now I did the steam fix and I am re-downloading it after another round of cc cleaners.

Try turning your detail down? AoC crashes for me if I exit the game too quickly, if I wait the 10 seconds to log out then it's fine. If you can, opt to use DX9 graphics instead of DX10?

Actually this problem is not just the game crashing but my whole computer! Also, I was running in directx 11 before but now after new reinstallation I was in lower dx and I just played like half hour and not encountered the problem, though it may still exist!

Go to the DirectX link I provided: Learn about DirectX - Games For Windows

Click on the "Latest DirectX downloads for gamers" on the right

Click and download the "DirectX End-User Runtime file. It will download a small file and then run to check for updates.

If it's your whole computer then it could be an overheat issue. I would go into the setting.ini file and change the "DxVersion" to = 9 and see if that helps too.

The maximum I have ever gotten to in bad company 2 was 92 degrees celcius when I accidentally left the bed covers over the heat vent but I didnt even hear the fan going to maximum speed before these crashes. then again it could be fan issue?? I did that download for directx and it said i was up to date. I am running in directx 9 right now and its working so I should try switching to 11 and see if it crashes.
