Why not try gaming with a network cable plugged into the router to test if its an incompatability.

Check to see if you have your NIC card drivers installed/updated. Disable your wireless connection and plug in your ethernet cable. When you say lag im guessing your BF2 freezes and says "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CONNECTION" ?

Something's wron with your system then if the network port's not working. I'd address that first.

I play BF2 over my wireless and I occasionally experience issues. Figure that my cable modem speed download rate doesn't maximize my average throughput on my wireless...it should be fine..but sometimes the signal waivers briefly, and with gaming that's not good. When I play at a friend's place(small lan party) with 4 others, all on the same cable modem connection(we play online together), I'm hardwired in, and have no issues what so ever(same speed cable modem). So I know it's more stable on a wired connection, but usually playable over wireless. You might be experiencing more fluctuations on your wireless sensitivity(which don't show up in "real time" on your little wireless monitor).

Get the network jack fixed and start with that.

I get lagg on BF2 with my setup (specs in sig below) I am gonna upgrade to 2GB and run it, this isn't only for BF2 but for future games that will require more memory

Upgrading to 2GB of RAM will help with BattleField 2. There are several games on the market these days that do benefit from having that much memory.

I noticed an immediate difference in BF2 performance (or rather, smoothness) when I upgraded my laptop from 1GB to 2.

when i game wirelessly, in any games...the following occur..packet loss, stuttering (not fps wise), THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CONNECTION, R0 (ffxi..not receiving anything from the server), dropped connections...when im wired, 100% trouble free..im beginning to hate wireless.

    pb,out.

That's not the cause of his problem.
I've an old desktop here (P4 2.8 512MB DDR 400 Memory, Radeon 9800 128MB), with which I play the demo of BFII quite often, all settings put on medium.

I admit, the load times are very long, like 5 minutes, and the first two minutes are quite shocking, but after that, it works smoothly...

on my desktop, i had the same trouble, until i went with RAID 0..it has made the load time drastically lower ( i am usually the first one to load the game, and playing the game), AND made it silky smooth..also, since BF2 is a huge memory hog, the optimal amount of memory is 1.5gb..but stick with 2gb just in case..
