I run BF2 at 1400x1050 with max. settings, except no AA/AF. Runs very smooth on my 256MB ATI X700.

You should be able to set everything to max and add a bit of AA/AF no problem! :D

Yeah, I don't think it can be used with widescreen...that's a shame. What settings were you running it on? Turn off anti ailasing and see if that helps any.

I'm running at 1400x1050, all options set to "High", except for AA/AF - those are off. It is very smooth.

Turn down the resolution to 1400x1050 and let me know how that runs! ;)

That's BattleField 2. Try a 1280x960 resolution, you will be able to use that for sure.

Do you have the latest video drivers for your Nvidia card?

    Hi,

I'm relatively new here, but hopefully I can help.

Yes, Battlefield 2 does not support widescreen natively, but you can stretch it a bit and it looks pretty darn good.

Set the resolution in game to something close that runs well, but doesn't exceed your vertical resolution.

    Now, close BF2 and edit the shortcut...after +fullscreen 1, add +szx XXXX +szy XXX (x=horizontal res, y=vertical res) like my ZD8000:

    +szx 1440 +szy 900

This should clean the graphics up enough to play like it was wide screen without any real degradation in performance.

What resolutions can you play at? I'm puzzled.

I run FEAR at XGA, most opts set to "High", with the exception of shadows/effects - those are on medium. Also running with textures at the highest value.

Hm, that's odd that you don't get 1400x1050...I don't get 1280x1024. Don't really have an explanation for that unfortunately.

Have you updated your video drivers? That will help.

Guys, if you want to run BF2 in widescreen, start the game with the parameters "-szx XXXX -szy YYYY" where XXX is your horizontal and YYYY is your vertical. For example, my shortcut is as follows:

    "C:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 768

    I run the game 1280x768 (Obviously). A mix of high/medium on a 128 (256 Hypermemory) X600. I have shadows turned off though.

[EDIT] /Me noticed there was a second page. /Me noticed someone already posted this. /Me feels stupid. [/EDIT]

How would Battlefield 2 run on this computer?

    1.6 Turion 64
    1GB PC3200 RAM
    128MB Mobility X700

    And this one?

    1.73 Pentium M
    1GB PC4200 RAM
    256MB Mobility X700

Will run fine on both of those setups. I run it smoothly on the specs you see in my sig, and the video card in those is mucho more powerful.

Agreed, it would run perfectly fine on the X700. I run it at maximum settings at a 1400x1050 res on mine. Looks beautiful! :D

Technically, BattleField 2 requires a video card with 128MB dedicated memory. However, it will still run at lower settings on a 64MB card. Keep the textures low and the resolution to either 1024x768 or 800x600 so you don't run out of video memory.

I recommend updating your drivers to the ATI Mobility Catalyst 5.10 - they enable HyperMemory automatically, which allows the video card to borrow some of your main system memory to use as video memory. It won't provide a big performance boost, but it will make the game a bit smoother, because it doesn't have to use the hard drive for VRAM.
