I bought the retail bc2 a while back and I gotta say this game is awesome... Now on to the main point. Xfire detects this game and I'm able to use the ingame chat and all its features; however, I can only use this game on steam by adding it as a "non-steam" game. I'm able to use the ingame chat, but it would be much more convenient if steam recognized the game that I'm running. Doing so would allow my friends to see what game I'm in, let them see my server info, etc. Solutions?

Buy the steam version since its on sale for like $6 :D

I actually just bought it again even though I own it on EA Downloader just because of convince and because I plan to get the Vietnam expansion off steam at some point and it can only be applied to the steam version.

Non Steam Game solution is pretty good for me, I do not find friends on that game via steam but rather via my in game friends list. I have created a friends list database just for this game (see sig)

Bad Company 2 is not a Steamworks game, so even if you buy it through Steam, it won't give you server information or anything; you'll still have to use the in-game Friends system for that.
