hi guys
im using an hp9740us with a 8600m gs nvidia card.
ive been able to play games in medium to high setting using from 1024x768 to 1440x900 depending on the game with the official nvidia 179.28 drivers
iwas wondering though is any particular driver from laptop2go would be best for this kinda lappy and if it will alllow me to overclock my card
apparently hp has locked its video card drivers for laptops and i cant overclock them even when i switched to modified drivers before (169.xx)
hope someone can help
cheers

Use 182.05 Dox modified.
They can overclock on HP cards. -
thanks bro ill try them out
are they good for the 8600 gs series too? -
oh and what o/c software do u suggest i use?
-
Yeah they are the best drivers ive come across. 185.20 are also overclockable though 182.05 dox modified have better performance.
Im using Rivatuner but Nvidia system tools should work too.
So far ive found them to be stable with no glitches. -
umm what do u mean by dox modified
-
Fat free optimized drivers

The only 3 OC'able drivers for HP's are 169.04 , 185.20 and 182.05. -
oh ok i soreted it out but i dont need moified inf's for dox modified right?
-
the wierd thing is i tried 169.04 before and i still couldnt o/c seemed like it was i bios lock...
do u have an hp lappy too and have you been able to o/c ur gpu? -
Really what program did you use? I had the same OC lock like all other HP's and couldnt overclock. Only one that worked was 169.04 and i was using that for a very long time till i found 185.02 and 182.05. (notice the big gap in the numbers)
No need for modified infs. If you still cant overclock, run driversweeper in safemode. There might be remnants of the older drivers left. -
yeah used 169.04 stock clocks for the longest time man ill try with this one hopefully it work
b tw what hp lappy are u usuing
best 'unlocked' driver for hp9740us
