That's a vague question... What would you consider as being "best"? Highest FPS?

    Then may I suggest Frogger 3D :p?

See, you need to be more specific, otherwise we don't really know what you're looking for.

The x3100 can't play the newer games. It's not designed as a gaming card. However you have the 8600m GT in your sig, which can play most newer games.

Most? Hmm, as far as I know, it can play pretty much every game to date (assuming it's not some sort of software/driver issue--I'm talking from a raw power perspective).

It can even run the GPU crushing Bioshock at a decent Medium setting at 1024x640 resolution. Not bad if I do say so myself.

It can probably run Crysis at around the same settings and resolution as Bioshock. Both are CPU AND GPU taxing games.

What kind of games do you like to play is the question?

I find myself playing Galactic Civilizations 2 a lot on my X3100 with maxed details at 1280x980 (native) with no slow downs.

Well, currently their are drive issues with the x3100. However, from a hardware point of view you can run anything from about a year and a half ago back, as long as you turn the settings down. Particular favorites of mine would be things like GTA: Vice City, CS:S, Guild Wars, and Civ4.

Good game... lets see... There's WOW, Halo 2, The Sims 2, GTA: VC or SA, and Civ4 is a good choice.

I know Halo 1 works, WarRock works really well on high res, and I have a 956 express chipset which is quite cack. Doom 3 works, but a bit flicky.

The following games that I have personally tested and consider for play on X3100 are:
    - COD1
    - WOW
    - Halo 1,2 (2 on low settings)
    - Civilization 4 (might warn you when you reach the Industrial Age things might get laggy.)
    - Doom 3(works fine but some graphic glitches)
    - Company of Heroes (don't install the mega-patch!)
    - FEAR (set on low settings not lowest)
    - Battlefield 1942 + expansions
    - The Sims 2
    - Galactic Civilization 2
    - WarRock
    - CS: Source (some bugs still there)
    - Half-Life 1,2, Ep. 1,2
    - GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas

Far Cry can barely run at low settings, but fickers really badly when you're in dark places sometimes, and flickers horribly when you use the flashlight in dark places! The X3100 can't even handle Sims 2 at very good graphics, and that should be one of the simplist games to run! Face it, the X3100 is not meant for gaming, or barely even for very low spec games even. It surprisingly performs worse than the stock graphics card that originally came with my Asus 2001 early desktop computer!

    Interesting.

Good to see a non-biased review of the x3100. Did you install the newly released Intel IGP driver?

I got rid of my older ATI x600 lap a little while ago (x600 is totally unsupported on some of the newer games).

That lap cost me a pretty penny when I bought it new, so I'm extremely hesitant on buying another one with a dedicated card. I've got a Duo Core w/8800GT desktop for my serious gaming needs.

I'm still on the fence on this one ...

    Notes:
    - if you do not install the mega patch for Company of heroes then you cannot play online.
    - Civ 4 is pretty laggy even at the beginning. You have to zoom the camera all the way in to get over 20 fps. Gets reallllly bad later when you actually start building a civilization (when the game gets fun).
    - Galciv 2 is an amazing game. Runs great. Just get that one, you wont need any other games.

I play World in Conflict (1024x768, very low settings) and Dawn of War (1280x800, medium/high settings) quite nicely. Still waiting for the Company of Heroes jerkiness bug to be fixed.

Heh, I can't believe it even runs at all with the x3100!

    Graphically, that's one tough game.

Even on my desktop/8800GT, things don't get really smooth in Crysis until I drop the game settings down to Medium.

I actually tried Riddick, and heck it ran really well and looked great too, unfortunately i had to resort to 640x480 and no character shadows. This was on Vista though

And also, since 15.9, games like Far Cry, Doom 3 and AoE 3 dont load

Nice list, but can you comment on how the most stressfil games run. For example GRAW, STALKER, SupCom, Fable, NFS MW, CoD 2 and Halo 2 (im really intersted in this one because only my laptop has Vista, and i hate matchmaking on XBL)

That seems to be a list of games that simply work, rather then work well - there is no way Halo 2 runs consistantly well even at low settings on an X3100, I couldn't get my old Go7400 to play that game at lowest resolution and settings without constantly dipping into the teens.

Nice to see halo 2 on that list. I have a ton of questions, but could you please just give me a summery of how good it ran (eg. frame rate).
