hi guys
i recently fried my lappy and am planning on gettinf a new one
was wonderin what you guys think is the best notebook for under 2200
my personal fav was the asus w90 but it seems a bit too big at 18.4
im looking at the 15-16 inch models for true portability
i know theres another subforum dedicated to this but wanted to ask the experts here
cheers
-
for a 15"...look into the sager np8660 aka the clevo m860tu..
as for 17"...i suppose best would be an alienware m17...or sager np5797 -
I like the Asus G50VT for portability.
-
You're better off in the which notebook should i buy forum.
-
actually iwanted to ask the gamers here...
-
Like I said, you'll be better off there. Believe it or not.
If you want a 15", your best choices are NP8660 (Clevo M860TU) or AW M15X. If you go up to 17", you'll be looking at MSI GT725 or AW M17. The 5797 should be out of your budget, or very close to that.
And for the last time, you'll be better off there. You won't get very different answers as there are only so many different laptops in your range, but providing a clearer picture of what you're looking for would help. -
your not happy with your asus w90?
-
w90 has some issues right now
its a good laptop but the drivers are poo and the lock-up's are killing it ....
try the AW m17 or w90 or the sager for 17 inch/18.4
15 inch would be np8660 -
ok i get you
would like to ask though if you think the msi725 will have enuf power to drive the 1920x1200 display for gaming? -
ATI 4850 > 9800M GT and about = to 9800M GTX, some programs have the ATI ahead, others the Nvidia card.
CF'd 3870s > 9800M GT, ATI 4850 and 9800M GTX
As for whether it's sufficient. That's going to depend on the program/settings. -
Sager NP5797?
Yes it's a single 9800M GTX, but you can't beat the quality. It's also not as chunky I suppose. -
Toss in OS/RAM and it's the price of a Asus W90vp. Performance would be very similar to the MSI GT725 and it's larger if I recall correctly.
-
Asus W90 , hands down.
$2199

edit: just saw you thought it was too big.
At 15.4" the NP8660/M860TU is an excellent choice -
Uh at JnR the Qousimio With like 2 9800m GTS in SLI, is i think 1999. That should be more than enough horsepower for you.
-
where would be the best place to get the sager 8660
online?
retail? -
Where are you from? Take a look at the reseller guide on the Sager/Clevo subforum.
-
