umm
i was a kid during that time period.
i have played both carmen sandiago and oregon trail.
gotta say, though, while those games are somewhat entertaining... that time period has a lot more to offer.
im thinking console gaming - shinobi, contra, sonic, mario, zelda, and the like. -
Hugo's House of Horrors, Leisure Suit Larry, Duke Nukem, Space Quest... lots of neat old games by Sierra
I'd also suggest NetHack if you liked the text-based adventures. Good stuff, I think they have Windows versions (I play under Linux) -
if you wanna get into consol games. double dragon was a good one best sports game ever i dont care what you say is tecmo bowl!!! super punch out cant forget about duck hunt. and dont say you was shooting them ducks from far away either ya had to be right up at the screen lol

That's an awesome game; X-Wing is a bit more primitive but also fun. Those games will never die.
Anyone ever play Star Crusader by Take-Two Interative? Really enjoyed that.
-
Master of Orion was my favorite "old" game. A not quite so old game that was fairly fantastic was Interstate 76. Too bad they ruined Interstate 82 >_>
-
i think i played x wing before im not sure though
-
Hrm... there was a game on the c64 that i loved. Wizards... or something like that. ****... that computer had some crazy good games. And I've got a hardly used one sitting in my closet right now. Unfortunantly, no games for it.
But hrm... I also loved the old gold boxed ad&D games. those were FANTASTIC.
And of course, all of the classic nes games. Castlevania, zelda, metroid... those were the days
-
Tabletop Dungeons and Dragons. Beats the crap out of any video game.
-
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe

Both responsible for more than their fair share of beer soaked loud gaming nights. -

Those games were fun.
Definitely a classic! Archon was so addictive!
Yes to all of these--except for me Food Fight was an arcade game. Tecmo Bowl is still one of the best football games! -
nothing will ever beat tecmo bowl. i dont care if the madden games have good graphics, nothing beats running diagonal to score a touchdown lol and missing a field goal was the best with the dink ta dink ta dink sound lol.
-
I'd pay $50US for a DirectX 9 update of Tie-Fighter, with multi-player. God that would be awesome.
