oh and when i put best old games i mean old games not games from the late 90s or early 2000's

    umm

i was a kid during that time period.

i have played both carmen sandiago and oregon trail.

gotta say, though, while those games are somewhat entertaining... that time period has a lot more to offer.

im thinking console gaming - shinobi, contra, sonic, mario, zelda, and the like.

Hugo's House of Horrors, Leisure Suit Larry, Duke Nukem, Space Quest... lots of neat old games by Sierra ;)

I'd also suggest NetHack if you liked the text-based adventures. Good stuff, I think they have Windows versions (I play under Linux)

Tie-Fighter. Still the best flight sim game around. That was the first ever PC game I played, and it's still my very favourite. Came on 13 floppy disks :D.

That's an awesome game; X-Wing is a bit more primitive but also fun. Those games will never die.

Anyone ever play Star Crusader by Take-Two Interative? Really enjoyed that.

Master of Orion was my favorite "old" game. A not quite so old game that was fairly fantastic was Interstate 76. Too bad they ruined Interstate 82 >_>

Hrm... there was a game on the c64 that i loved. Wizards... or something like that. ****... that computer had some crazy good games. And I've got a hardly used one sitting in my closet right now. Unfortunantly, no games for it.

But hrm... I also loved the old gold boxed ad&D games. those were FANTASTIC.
And of course, all of the classic nes games. Castlevania, zelda, metroid... those were the days :)

Anyone play Chopper Command or Karateka? I loved those games back in the 80's.

    Those games were fun.

Definitely a classic! Archon was so addictive!

Yes to all of these--except for me Food Fight was an arcade game. Tecmo Bowl is still one of the best football games!

    I can't talk about the games in the 80's. I was a kid. I don't remember :)

    Anyway

    - consol games

I still have working ATARI, NINTENDO (with gun) and SEGA :)

Sega - Shinobi, Sonic (I really liked it) and some with jet-planes, soccer
Nintendo - Super Mario of course
Atari -I don't remember the names of the Atari games but probably someting like Packman :)

    - pc games

My first game on my first PC (386 SX 40 Mhz... yaeh :) ) was Wolfenstein (I really liked it),

    then
    - Stunts,
    - Raptop,
    - Lands of lore,
    - Doom (of course, dunno why but I liked Wolfenstein more),
    - Alone in the Dark,
    - Dark Forces,
    - Wing Commander,
    - Fifa 94,
    - Myst,
    - Prince of Persia,
    - Heretic,
    - Aladdin,
    - Lion King
    - Worms,
    - Jazz Jack Rabbit,
    - Need For Speed,
    - IndyCar Racing ... I'll stop here.

Original Dune? the graphic adventure? Sure you dont mean the grandaddy of RTS Dune II ? :D

Syndicate was awesome....flamethrowers and burning bodies fun!

Best c64 that i can remember

    Pirates (legendary)
    F19 Stealth Fighter (CMOH!)
Kickstart 2 (design ur own courses!)
Hero of the Golden talisman (coz i completed it!)
    Paradroid
    IK + (best kickass soundtrack?)
    Commando (2nd best soundtrack)
Impossible Mission (though it drove me nuts)
California Games (and the other US gold/Epyx games series)

    Amiga/PC

    Dune II
    Defender of the Crown!
    Sensible Soccer
    Alien Breed 2
Project X (best sidescrolling shootemup from team 17)
    Wings (great ww1 sim)
Moonstone (would love a new version of this for PC!!)
    Another World (artistic genius)
    Elite (nuff said)
All graphic adventures by Lucasfilm (Monkey Island, Indy, etc)
    Laser Squad :D
    Bioforge (stands up well today)
Later on early 80s 90s i was well into the ssi/usgold rpgs series
e.g. pool of radiance, curse of azure bonds, champions krynn, buck rogers etc
