Im running everything max on 1200x800 or something similar and getting a few laggy moments and it doesn't seem to be that smooth.

    What settings are best?

I would lower texture detail a bit, and maybe lower a few other setting by a little bit. Im not fimilar with the settings but if it has things like draw back distance you could lower that too. Also do you have AA & AF enabled?

alright ill try on 4 4. I have AA disabled i think, also i dont think this demo has the best graphics that the full version will have since the screens of this game looked better than what i've seen so far

i'll try to post some screens pretty soon. i put the processing thing to the last option..forgot what it's called, and everything else on high. the game seems to run rather smooth (all the background apps were turned off with no internet connection)

also on a note measure the fps with the console command "stat fps" this will not slow down the game like fraps does

i get 25-30fps at 1440x900, texture and world detail at 5 (the max). By going down to 1280x800, i managed to get around 35+fps. Even at 25-30fps, the game was very smooth and no stuttering movements. very well coded game. i'm using 163.75 .

BTW anyone else experiencing the terrible mouse movement slowness in the menus...dear god when I change the res a bit higher it gets so slow that I cant even click on accept

Using 4 4 settings with vivid post processing is giving 15-35 fps on G1s using 163.44 drivers at 1280x800 res.

Best FPS I have gotten on G1s is with 3 3 vivid post processing hitting 25-50 fps at 1280x800 res.

I'm using no tweaks at all. Vista Home Premium. Unless Notebook Hardware Control can be considered a tweak. Besides those drivers, there's nothing else i'm using. Surprised how well the game runs. And enjoying every minute of it.....

Damn it , why is this quote + edit combo working for me, it just adds the quote as a separate post which is not what I want to do

Can someone try it at 5/5 with default post processing and 1280x800? A FRAPS benchmark would be nice, or just some screenies (with stat fps).

post processing is the effects, the higher the setting the more detialed things should be.

Vivid is the highest I think, so it would give the worst fps.

I read somewhere tho that the demo doesnt include alot of things like the high res textures (think about how small the file size is) so medium textures is the same as say ultra high textures and thus if you try the same setting in the actual game you may find your performance crushed. On the upside tho if you have a strong computer like a desktop that means the game will look even better!

So if thats the case, things like post processing may also not be fully functional in there highest settings.

Just be on the look out for a tweak guide when the game is out, there is always one for all main games and it gives very good detials on what all the settings do and if its good for performance or looks and the best settings.

I believe you had the post processing set higher. The only reason I ask is that Ken did a pretty thourough benchmark of those settings on the DDR2 HD2600, and it averaged ~30fps, staying mainly between 25-35, and I'd like to compare that to the DDR2 8600M-GT.

well, i think, 8600 does stay in that range as well. the fps mainly drops in combats in the open.
