    Would the 9300gs on a sony Z590 (P8400 processor, 3gb ddr3, 256 video ram dedicated) be faster than a macbook pro 13" (P8400 processor, 3gb ddr3, 256 ram shared) for gaming?

Yes, I know, shared isnt as good. But it seems searching online they get roughly the same speeds. The 9400m apparently is a 9100 and a 9300gs on one chip... Confusing. I just need to know what is better!

Also, exactly how much ram does the 9400m have dedicated anyway? It's hard to find.

The 9400M G is the integrated one. It's the 9300M GS which is dedicated. Both are more or less on par in terms of performance, regardless of VRAM as they're both limited by other factors before VRAM use.

Its really a moot point to look at the VRAM too much with videocards like the 9300 or the 9400 since even if it had impossibly big VRAM, it would be wasted due to the low specifications of both cards.

I have the Z590...and my old laptop was a mbp. Gaming was faster on the 9300 ONLY because using bootcamp or vm on the mbp made gaming slower.

The only game I was played on both laptops was COD4, and it was faster on the Z590.

I suspect if you got the mac version of COD4, and played it natively on OSX, gaming could be comparable? (sorry, couldn't really tell you, I never buy OSX copies of games)

Anyways, most everyone will tell you that gaming on laptops is best left up to windows.
