I have an IBM T43, 1.86ghz 1GB RAM and an X300 ATI graphics card. I decided to install BF2 on it and see how it would work. It works relatively well on low settings, I get high forties-low fifties FPS. I was wondering if I go for 2GB of RAM will this signifcantly (or atleast make it worth the upgrade) or is the fps already maxed and reached its ceiling because of my graphics card?

the ram won't help much I think.. a better video card would be helpful though.. especially for higher settings.. but I guess in this notebook it's the best you can have

BF 2 is a major ram hog and you will see a gain in performance by upgrading to 2GB because the game wont need to access your HD as often. However I don't think you'll get much of an increase in framerate or be able to raise the detail just by adding some ram because its bottlenecked by your card.

Is your hard drive light active when you are playing the game, and are you noticing any stuttering? It soulds like you are having good performance. Low settings shouldn't need 2GB of RAM. Many people run on 1GB just fine.

My hard drive light blinks everyone once in a while for a millisecond while I'm playing. Not really any dramatic stuttering, though sometimes it will stutter a little when a map first loads.

It doesn't sound like you are running out of RAM - 1GB is fine.
