Make sure you defrag your hard drive for quick access - and bf2 is pretty hardware intensive, it ran well on my machine with 2gb of RAM
Im sure having a 7200rpm HD would increase performance greatly as well.

my roommate has the same setup but with a sony vaio. he had the exact same problem. last week he upgraded to 2Gb of ram and that solved his problem. now he gets 30-45FPS at high settings on 800x600 with lagging at all.

(NOTE: Im only really guessing here, I havent worked with Dual Core Processors yet)

First off, its not your RAM. 1 Gig is enough RAM to run BF2, esecially on lowest settings, without a problem.

Have you tried disabling your second core? I saw you have a core duo, and I remember someone else telling another person, who was also having trouble with a battlefield series game, to try disabling his second core because sometimes battlefield has a problem with dual core processors. And his fix worked. Granted Ive never tried it, and Im not sure if that would be a logical fix for the problem your having, but heck, why not give it a shot eh?

I hope u know how to go about doing that, because i dont :p. If you dont, google it, im sure you could find it.

I have a Go7400 with 1gb of ram (and therefore even less then that free, due to turbocache), and BF2 runs fine on 1024x768 all medium at 35-50fps. I also have both cores enabled.

I'm sure you've tried different drivers, but also check you have enough virtual memory allocated, and also run memtest to just double check that your ram isn't faulty...

well i get great fps... 80's and 100's when not much is going on but for some reason it keeps lagging and the hard drive light is kinda buissy so i didnt know if there was a way to not let my card use the 128 turbo chace thingy so that that extra little bit could go to computer to help with the game... ive even tried exiting my anti virus damen tools and every thing else not needed to run just the game and it stll doesnt work right. where can i do a memtest at to makesure my ram isnt bad? and i dont think its that anyways because i can run other games pretty well.

ok this might be a dumb question but r ur video drivers up to date? try an error check test on ur hard drive. u would have to go to a third party app for a good memory test. is ur laptop running hot? how much page filing or virtual memory do u have? did u update bf2?

the only other thing i can think of is either u have too much stuff running in the background or u need to disable ur turbo cash. im assuming that ur video card has at least 128mb dedicated memory for textures and whatnot. so disablethat. and just because u exited out of ur antivirus in the task bar doesnt mean its still not running. u have to disable the service in ur computer management options. um. and check ur bios settings. u might be able to disable the turbo cash in there. maybe tweek ur nview drivers.

    You can't disable Turbocache.

crap i was hoping some how i could... so that i could use that extra 128 ram.... it looks like i might have to buy a gig or 2 of ram.... can i just take out of the the 512mb sticks and replace it with a 1 gig stick then leave in the other 512 or will that not work.... just not to shure about it because some manufacturers (aka dell and hp) do wierd stuff like that. i know my friends desktop from dell freaked out when he tried to stick different brands of ram in

see u can probably do that but the problem is this...if u do replace 1 512 module and put a 1GB module in there u will have more memory but might have less bandwidth. and when it comes to gaming, badwidth is more important than the size of memory. kinda like that. cause u need 2 identical modules to have dual-channel memory enabled. just some food for thought.
