I just started playing bioshock 2 and was trying to find the best settings to run the game at. Currently I am running the game with dx10 enabled and everything set on high and enabled with a resolution of 720x480. The resolution itself does not bother me at all except for the extremely blurry UI (in game text).
Is there anyway to make the UI look like it would with a higher resolution while keeping the game resolution low so my laptop with 8600m gt can run the game with 30+fps. I would play on my native res (1400x900) but even at all low the game has some noticeable frame dips.

Overclock the GFX card and the CPU.

I would get a notebook cooling pad first and undervolt the CPU and GPU a little and then OC... 8600M GT already has heat problems so OC a little first...

All I want to know is how to fix the blurry UI at the lower res.My gpu is already overclocked and has been stable for 3 years. this game heats my card to 75c(1 hour of gaming in bioshock 2), which for an 8600m gt is cool. Not trying to be rude, but did you guys even read my entire post?

Wow, 8600m GT won't run well at 1440x900? Must mean a new graphics engine because I played the original on my 8600m GT at 1280x800 and it ran well with medium detail. Although I don't find the graphics that much more compelling.
Not sure how to fix the UI though. You'll probably have to wait for some genius hacker to come up with a fix. I'll give a look if I get a chance, I like to tinker with stuff like this. -

I don't have Biosock 2, but your problem occurs in any game when running low resolution. I don't think there is a solution for it, but I wold love to be wrong. -
It runs fairly well at 1400x900. Mostly above 30 fps but it does have some fps dips which get annoying. The fps dips are the least of the problems with running in my native res though. The major reason for toning the res down is because at any res above 1280x720 there becomes awful texture pop in. Awful actually is an understatement, I can walk up to a picture and stare at it for 5 secs before the textures load. So even at high settings at 1400x900 the game looks like it is at low setting all the time because the textures do not load in until I am standing a few feet from them and that is after 5 seconds waiting for them to pop in.
The game is definitely playable at 1280x800 at medium settings but looks awful with the texture pop in. -

Try adjusting the DPI settings maybe that might help, not sure if will help for text in games but it's worth a shot.
@ thanks Darth Bane -
Not to be rude to the OP, but A) your original post said nothing about overclocking or anything else you've done to your system and B) if you lower the resolution THAT low, I wonder if by "blurry" you're simply seeing the pixellated result of AA at a super-low resolution. Granted, you haven't mentioned AA specifically being used (and I've never played BS2), but maybe that could factor in at least. Compare 720x480 with 1440x900; how's the "blurry" factor in the higher resolution?

Didn't know the specs of the laptop besides it's GFX card(8600M GT) anyway thought with maybe a little OC of both the CPU and GPU it would help run the game better at a higher res and that would equat to better text for the game.
I will try to be more helpful next time. -
I also didnt tell you my name, phone number, or address. This is because it is irrelevant. I was simply asking if there was a way that I could keep the res at 720x480 and have the UI look as if it were from the 1400x900 res. Also, the unreal engine (Bioshock 2) does not support AA.
