    bioshock black screen?

    i tried the latest driver with modified inf and same results. game will run but right after the bioshock logo it will black out but the hdd is still working then i see my mouse arrow i move it around and nothing i control alt delete and bioshock.exe not responding.


    who got this working what what drivers did you use?

    that happened to me the first time i ran it on my desktop. But i just force quit and tried it again and it hasn't happened since. Sorry, don't know what to tell you.

    What version is the latest? I posted in another thread. I'm using 162.22 and Bioshock works. Previously I was using Dell's 102.something and it did the same exact thing. Black Screen but wasn't a full crash.

    That doesn't sound like a driver issue.
    are you using Vista? do you have UAC on? maybe it's not running as administrator so it stops responding.

    I'm having the same problem on my Thinkpad T61. I've tried two different driver versions (7.15.11.129 and 7.15.11.145) but the Bioshock demo stops responding right after the opening cinematic. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    the game works on my Inspiron 9400 surprisenly very good on vista and i used the 163.44 drivers

    The fix is:

    Download the newest Direct X (august) and innstall it, or force DX9. This will apply for anybody using vista and has a DX10 card. I also installed the new beta video card drives however that didnt fix it for me on its own it took that plus a DX10 update to fix it.

    To force DX9 (may as well only a few things in the game have DX10 effects and you wont notice them but your fps will) just right click the icon that starts the game and add -dx9 to the target line.
