When I do play Blackops, I play on the lowest settings, everything turned off @ native reolution on my dektop.

The goal for MP games is to get the best frame per second you can get. I average about 125 FPS.

enable console ( ~) key . And type in these commands.

    /snaps 30
    /cl_maxpackets 100
    /com_maxfps 125

Those are some basic commands that will make your game runs smoother, feel smoother, and will give you better hit registration.

whats the point of having 125 fps if your monitor refreshes at 60 hz?

I can already see where this discussion is going... :D

Anyway, I'm using max settings with vsync on and get most of the time 60fps if I remember correctly, haven't played in a while (except zombie mode :D)

Among other things, physics. CoD games (and other games based on id Tech 3) behave differently at different frame rates. 125 frames per second gives you an advantage in jumping distance, for example. I don't know about Black Ops specifically, but in earlier CoD games, there were some jumps that you physically couldn't make if you had less than 125 frames per second.

Yup even though you can't see the frames on a 60hz monitor doesn't mean the game engine isn't running at 125 fps.

Also black ops is free to play this weekend on steam.
