hi
iam owner of gateway p 7805u ( 9800m gts , 8400 @ 2.26 mhz , win 7 64 7600) and have annoying problem with my computer! its random black screen in games and frame rate drop afterwards! its usually takes 3-4 seconds with black screen, in game sound and then is kind unplayable ! when i exit the game and check clocks the are 400 for core, 300 for mem. it seems graphic card is droping clocks while in game which result that black screen.
i tried with powermiser switch, completely same! its actually same when i overclock gpu or leave it stock.
i have heard for rivatuner force performance level but clocks are a way lower and performance of computer is not good enough. is there any way to set 600, 800,1500 to 3d clocks as well , in nibitor. i really have no idea why this gpu has 4 levels in bios. and why damn riva tuner cant find the most important one - extra levelbut 3d level with funny clocks 400, 300 , 800,instead 600,800,1500

Check your temperatures with a utility called HWMonitor. Seriously.
-
must be the Famous Gatways FX7805u problem with P8400... over certain temp , the CPU downclocks... search the forum on for a thread on how to solve this...
-
It could also be the GPU downclocking as well.

2 days ago i was playing without any problems all day and today it happened after 2 minutes.
temperatures are 48 50 58 for acpi
42 42 59 for gpu
34 25 44 cpu
i dont think thay are really big, must be some downclocking bug.
what do you suggest?
got this when i check the log:
display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and recover successfully.
