Not really. With CS and Half Life 2, it is highly unlikely that you will achieve even 20 fps, at a minimum resolution, and medium detail settings.

If your on a very tight budget, I recommend an Ati X1300 at the very least, but you'd be looking for an nVidia GeForce 7400 Go, or equivalent ideally, do get decent performance.

The X3100 will struggle with games like CS:S. It can play WoW and Sims decently.

Last I checked the x3100 is just as strong if not stronger than the x1300. If you want to play games look at the 8600, or at least the 7600/x1600.

See the Compal IFL90 or the Dell e1520 for the 8600 within your price range.

CS will play fine, but CS:S will struggle. All games released prior to 2003/4 will run fine on the GMA.

Huh, I think many are underestimating the card, I think it should be able to run Half Life 2 and any games using that engine decently, not at the highest settings, but playable and enjoyable. Halo and other games from around that time should work as well.

Its not a gaming card but there's still plenty of pretty modern games you can play on it. :)

My GMA950 ran Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars really well on medium settings. I even ran Fear with really low settings, but it was very fluid.

Like rahulnirmal, a lot of people think integrated graphics card are reallllly really bad. Well, they aren't. They can really save people money if they only need that much power for the games they play.

People are too quick to just dismiss the X3100 as if it where the GMA900/950, which it is not, so can people stop commenting when they obviously don't even read the question right.

Is the X3100 good enough for watching DVD movies?
    My main use is
    * office work (doesn't require graphics)
    * watching DVDs
    * ripping DVDs (DVD-RW from my camcorder)

I am not sure if dvd ripping depends on the quality of the video card?

it doesn;t happily i think. intergrated like mine and x3100 is made to be used as those work. watching dvd, surfing, office work, and low end games. so it is fine. dedicated are going to be for gaming and intense graphic work

by the way i heard from someplace that x3100 is with ati X1300 or 1400
so it is good enouh. in addtion, it can play direct x 10 games soon enough.
yes the css will run on x3100 and hl2 as well because my ati can play them
