Hello, im currently in the process of picking a laptop to buy, i dont know heaps about computers ecspecially laptops. I think i've found an alright one in my price range, I'm just wondering if it will be able to run wow fairly smoothly on low-med graphics.

This is the laptop - Satellite L640/09M Notebook | Dick Smith Online Shopping

Intel hd graphics uhm..well wow was running even on my old thinkpad with a gma945 but it was everything on low at 1024x768.
So yes it will run on low in native res but dont expect a good performance from it.
Save a bit and get a laptop with 200$ more that have a discrete gpu, otherwise considering the specs and that the fact we're in 2011 that laptop will get pretty old in 4 months.
You will regret it if you dont save a bit and wait a bit longer.
    My 2 cents.

If you are going to be gaming on your laptop, STAY AWAY from intel graphics, that's the bottom line. If you are strapped on cash and intend to make a good purchase that fits your need, spend a little time and fill up the "what should I buy" form and start a thread here: What Notebook Should I Buy? People there are very savvy about finding crazy deals within a low budget.

DONT buy it. Its not the best what you can get for nearly 700 bucks.
Integrated graphics... hellou 2007. Rather create a topic in "what should i buy" and get a decent notebook.

Its not about paying more its about getting the most out of your money. Factoring discounts etc.

It will play wow poorly on lowest settings.

If you are on a tight budget, my advice would be to just wait a little longer.
Its not long until AMD releases the new Liano APUs.
(CPU performance slightly below Intel, but much better GPU)
That IGP would handle WoW Cataclysm for sure. ;D

For 700 usd you can get a laptop that will handle WoW on medium and above.
In fact having lowest settings in wow do make a huge visual difference.

    Asus A72Jr
    Acer Aspire 5742G-484G50
    Lenovo IdeaPad G570-524AH-1
    HP ProBook 4320s

Thats a super quick pick from local online store, but all of thos are pretty much better. Some have gforce 540m etc.

I was gonna say there are $650+ laptops that can be had that are better than that. Check the advice these guys posted for you. They've gone beyond the simple yes it can run, but I wouldn't bother answer I was going to give you haha

There are plenty of overseas sites that sell sager/clevo systems- you should really look at getting one of those systems so you can really get the full bang for your buck.
