I'd like to play some games but seem to get intimidated each time i try to find one. I know 'what's wrong w/me???'

I have an awesome 1530 that i use for work, and its working fine.

I like sports, mysteries, but don't like the guns/shooting games.

Can anyone recommend a game for a 'beginner'?

have a great day and thx!

Try Civilisation series, its all about planning and strategy BUT you may have to go to war. There are no action scenes tho (speaking from Civ3)

edit: what about Theme Hospital or the Sims for non-action games? no mystery tho...

Madden '08 can definitely be intimidating. It's pretty indepth with several modes of play. Unless you're into football and well versed, pass on it.

    What about Sims? http://thesims.ea.com/

If your problem with the FPS (First Person Shooter) games is the 'twitch' play style, then there are a lot of other action games that you may like.

If you just don't like the violence aspects of it, then that limits a lot of games =)

If you own any console games (xbox, playstation 1/2/3, gamecube/wii, etc..) then listing your favorites from there could help us suggest something more suitable.

Your best bet is to hit up websites like IGN.com, Gamespot.com, Gamespy.com, etc that do reviews of games and check out different genres of games there to get an idea of what each game is about.

Many games out there have demo's as well, so you can try a little before you buy. I recommend you try out some older game demo's so your not spending much if you do not like the game.
