    hey everyone ,

as u can see from the topic , it seems whatever i do in order to play demigod

is worthless .. i nearly tried everythin but nothin worked out ! i think the

problem is because my OS is vista and my friends desktop OS is xp...

    i did the following :-

    1.disabled Windows firewall

2.disabled anti-virus programmes (mcfee & nod32 and thier sub componants (sub-componants like "mcfee firewall" )

3.disabled ipv6 and left ipv4 onlly (in vista)

4.our ips are in the same range

5.there is no router between us (so no need to open ports n etc etc)

6.I can Ping him and he can Ping me (Pinging works perfectly)

7.We didnt try another game besides Demigod to play on LAN

So,any ideas ma friends  ?

    That shouldn't be the problem.

So how are you trying to do this? Through a router in the house?

You can't use a normal USB cord to do so. It has to be a special data USB thing....anyways, the whole thing is alot easier if you just use a router.

Thanx man but guess u got me wrong, we use crossover network wire not

USB... it's the same wires u see in internet cafe's .. USB surely

wont work for playing games over a network...we use router or switch when

we have more than 2 computers, lets say a party of 6 computers then a

router or switch might be put in usefull use (people nowadays use wireless for

networking, routers are not nessecarly )... but right now there are onlly 2

computers we are using..i think vista has a hand in this mess <<< vista

    hater :D

If you got a router in the house then just go use it.....it'll be really easy

Most people don't know much about the various compatability issues with direct connections so you're better off doing it the router route.

This is a big thing for my mate and I - SET THE VISTA COMPUTER'S NETWORK TO PRIVATE.

When you plug in the cord, the network defaults to public (which disables network discovery etc).

Go to the network/sharing centre, click "customise" (I think) on the LAN network, then change it to private.
