Im glad that others agree with me that WAR looks just like WoW. Many say the graphics in WAR are much better but all the screens to me it looks the same or even worse. There is not much going on very bland textures, no foliage or background.

I mean this is good for a big mainstream game I guess so it runs easy on lower systems, but I would apprecaite some high end stuff to be optional. I am not expecting Crysis MMORPG lol but something between WoW and the newer high end graphics standards. I guess playing Crysis Very High does spoil you to an extent.

Seriously look at the pic above, its just a ground with some average textures, a few pices of pixel grass and a poly castle in the back, there is almost nothing there. WoW despite not having high end graphics on paper did a great job designing the areas and filling them up with lots to see, the Dark Shire area, the forests, caves ect all had lots of stuff to look at and it kept you immersed but all the WAR pics I have seen so far are empty areas like that one above, never much there to look at.

It's tough not to look like a game that copied your art in the first place.

You simply can't have the graphic quality you reference, and hundreds of characters fighting on the screen at one time. That's what WAR is about, "Massive" Player vs Player battles.

You really have to experience WAR for yourself to appreciate the graphics, but I really don't care about blades of grass. In that screenshot we used a siege weapon to smash the door down, as boiling oil was poured on us. WAR does look better than WoW, by a large margin, and perhaps you just have to play to see it, but at the end of the day, "Game-play > Graphics"

I'd really have to agree with this. AoC tried to offer better graphics but then when it came to pvp you're pc would lock up as soon as fights got any bigger then 20v20. Poeple with high end pc's were reporting 3-4fps during sieges....sorry not my idea of gaming.

WAR graphics are significantly better then WoW's, though I will agree that that screenshot doesn't do it justic. Maybe the poster has his gfx settings turned down, not sure.

Regardless, the level of gfx detail Mythic chose for WAR is perfect. It allows people with 3 year old computers to participate, and allows people with higher end pc's to play 100v100 battles at a respectable framerate.

When I first joined the CE closed beta, I made the mistake of rolling chaos. There were roughly 400 other people all around me doing the exact same quests as me, what a nightmare. I will have to note though that I didn't notice any lag whatsoever.

Yes, the gfx aren't cutting edge, but there pretty much as good as they can be with today's computer technology and still jive with what occurs in game.

Alright, to settle this whole WAR vs WOW graphics debate I've found a comparison of the 2 side by side:

If you say WAR and WOW graphics are similar, you're an idiot.

Again, as I said in my previous post, this aren't cutting edge grahics by any means, but they are leagues ahead of wow.

    lol Good find Kermit.

I'll check my settings. Using a 9800 GTX, with a 8400 precessor, Raptor HD, 4 gigs ram with Vista 64. It's a new system, and probably need to dig in to the video control panel and up the settings.

You should look into City of Heroes. They have a 14 day free trial at: http://www.cityofheroes.com

It's alot of team-based gaming, so if your into doing things solo, then I suggest you might wanna look elseware.

But as for myself, I find it hard to choose a new mmorpg to play without playing it first. If anything, I suggest finding a trial for the game you want to play, and try it out first, that way if you don't like it, there's no commitment. Which is why I always rent my Xbox 360 games, rather than buying them. :)

WAR does look better than WoW imo, most people who've seen the latest version of beta in action share that opinion. Its no graphical marvel but I think it really looks good. Also, I'm not sure on what your opinion is based, but I cant understand how anyone that seen the game with their own eyes can honestly say areas are not "filled up with lots to see". WAR's areas are a lot more densely packed with content than WoW, which has some areas that are pretty desolate. Now I'm not saying WAR is a perfect game (far from it imho) and I'm not a fanboy. There's a lot of fair and valid criticism against the game, but your points dont seem to apply to the game I'm seeing. I'm not trying to bash you or anything, but you might be pleasantly surprised if you actually see the game. It does look WoW-ish though. But I guess to some extent, all fantasy MMO's look alike.

Here are some pics that show off the game well, be sure to check them out

COH is a great game, i just felt that it suffered from the same issue as AOC did. It starts of super fun, but gradually dies off as you level up. Running the same missions over and over again gets old. Granted I haven't played COV or COH in about a year, but I can't imagine that much has changed.

If you haven't tried COH or COV yet, I'd highly recommend you play them for 2-4 weeks.

Dude, Ive been playing GuildWars non stop. I used to be a HUGE wow fan. Guild Wars is a little more linear but it's still amazing. The level cap is compeltely low but it's really well balanced out. Plus you can pick up an old copy for really cheap. 19 bucks? No online Fee. This game is amazing if you like the PVP.

    Quite frankly,

The two most important parts of any MMORPG are two things:
    -Gameplay
    -Community

These are the two things which keep you coming back and quite frankly are yet to be seen.
(the gameplay and community will most likely change drastically after release)

Honestly I think WAR looks like a slightly better WoW.
Compared to a 4-yr-old game like Lineage2 (which also has massive seiges, and runs on even single core 800MHz machine with a ati 9800 pro)
I think the graphics are lackluster.

This isn't to say WAR will be a bad game...

Since you mentioned L2 KernalPanic, I just want to chime in with my opinion that L2 was/is one of the most under-rated game I've seen, in the MMO genre in North America. I understand why, but L2 is an incredible game, which most never had the chance to discover.

EDIT: Nvm, I used a different link and I'm in. :)
