CoD4 is better if shooting is really what you are looking for. The gameplay is better. Battlefield series is more focused on teamplay, with squads and commander. The shooting part itself, isn't really good, lot of glitch and nade spamming (more than in CoD4). Go for CoD4 :)

Just remember, COD4 has a 'story mode'. BF2 doesn't. But if it's just for your multiplayer craving, you can't go wrong with either. Just make sure your machine's powerful enough for COD4 though. Minimum should be Geforce 7600 for the GF7 series, Geforce 8600 for the GF8 series, Geforce 9500 for the GF9 series, Radeon X1600 for the X1000 series, Radeon HD2600 for the HD2000 series, Radeon HD3650 for the HD3000 series, Radeon HD4650 for the HD4000 series.

BF2's requirements are light. Even the old Radeon 9600 can play it. BF2 even runs butter smooth at high settings on my relatively old Geforce Go 6600.

I'd pick COD4 in a heartbeat. I've played both and I must say I'm not impressed with BF2 at all. It takes way too much effort to be good at that game whereas COD4 is just a fun, simple game. It's pretty much the only game I play still, even though it came out a year ago.

COD4 is a more complete package of single and multiplayer. It's does also have far superior actual combat mechanics. But BF2 has unparalleled team play, vehicles, and obj based game play.

I would go with COD4 just for the fact that it has a single player campaign where BF2 is essentially multiplayer. COD4 is a great game too, worlds better than the newest one, World at War. I have a question myself, do people still play COD4 online? I sold my copy and might want to buy it again but not if no one plays it online.

Good way to sum it up. I recommend getting COD4 too. I still play it to this day while I almost never play BF2 anymore.

Yes, many people still play COD4 online.

I would have to know how you play since they are totally different. People keep comparing them because they are both Modern Combat. COD4....hmm where do I start? If you are a hardcore gamer then I believe you would like BF2 better. COD4 is VERY VERY easy to play, probably to easy since people that get a lot of kills in the game think they are good at gaming. The guns have almost no recoil in COD4 so it's basically just point and shoot with any gun. In BF2 you sometimes have to time your shots if the person is running.

Put it this way, I play both but just recently played COD4 on the PC, I have been playing COD4 on the 360 for over a year and it was painfully easy on that, then I play it on the PC and I can get very accuracte shots with the Dragunov without holding my breath(shift)...it's so easy to snipe in the PC version because of the mouse.

    If you want a challenge...get BF2, if you are a casual gamer...get COD4.

BF2 also has some goo mods.

Oh BTW, flame me for this, but the COD series has pretty crappy singleplayer. BF2 has none LOL.
