hi, i was trying play call of duty united offense on my laptop which is currently running vista 32 bit when i encountered a problem. After i installed the game i tried it out and it worked perfectly but i had to update the punkbuster files. The game worked fine after i updated punkbuster and booted it up again. But the game hasn't been working after i quit out. When i tried to start the game up i got a message saying that the game had failed to quit earlier and asked if i would like to run it in safe mode. Either way, when i try to start up the game the screen goes black, flashes a couple times, and then i get a message saying that coduomp.exe stopped working. I've unistalled it and installed it again but the same thing happens. Thanks in advance for your help.

You run CCleaner after uninstalls? Reg cleaner, too. Uninstalling leaves traces that may interfere with a new install. Also, defrag ( I do it twice) after installing games, especially large games like COD's and Crysis titles...

Try Revo Uninstaller. To complely uninstall. And try again. :)

Stupid question...is United Offense the third installment, or an expansion pack???

Just getting into the whole gaming on PC thing, as I just now have gotten a computer that is decently able to run games...good games, anyway...

Set the properties to run the game as Administrator and Compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2. I seen some people had to do this to get COD:UO to run properly cause it was originally an XP game. Get back to us and let us know if that helped.

Thanks for your help so far guys. I think the problem is that cod uo made some registry changes when it stopped working and now it still won't work.

Can i just use a system restore to go back before i installed cod uo (3 days ago) to remove the changes in the registry? Or should i just use an actual registry cleaner?
I have doubts about using a registry cleaner as it may delete files linked to the original cod as well as the expansion. I've experiened this before with expansion packs and it rendered the regular game unplayable.

Alright, i think i found the problem but it took me a while.

I took your advice, used revo uninstaller to clear the registry of cod uo stuff and reinstalled. It worked but after playing i let the laptop enter sleep mode and when i woke it up, i got the message saying the game didn't quit properly and that coduosp.exe stopped working.

I did the same uninstalling re-installing to fix it and it worked. But when it entered sleep mode after quitting, i got the same error message.

So basically I think vista's sleep mode is causing the error but I don't know what to do. Currently i just turned off sleep mode but this is only a temporary issue. Any thoughts?

I never had a problem with cod uo in vista 32 but I have sleep mode off so from what happened to you propably it is the sleep mode that cause the error

I hate sleep mode. I hardly use sleep mode unless I accidentally click on it.
    Use hibernate better.
COD:UO suppose to be an old games rite?
