Hi i have a compal hgl-30 with a nvidia 7600go. everything is working fine except for games. I tried to play Counter strike 1.6 but everything was very laggy and choppy. Even entering the menu before the game was laggy and i could not turn on opengl. the game runs as if im running windows without a graphics card driver. the typing is very slow and everything is very choppy. Even Gunbound, a simple 2-D game does not run well. It is very choppy and when i type, it registers 1 character a sec.

I have tried running the game with both the 83.90 version and the 92.91 version driver.
    thank you

Are you in power saving mode on your processor, graphics card or both of them? That could explain things.

    And HOORAY another Gunbound player!!

    Weird. Try this:

Reinstall videodrivers from your manifacturer. Defrag your harddisk. Make sure Intel Speedstep is off and you have Full performance for your CPU.
If that doesn't work: Format your whole notebook, install all the newest drivers, defrag and try again.
If that doesn't work: Go back, your notebook has a serious problem.

    Charlie :)

It's almost certainly driver issues. Install the NVIDIA drivers, and then try again. You're probably using the standard SVGA drivers, which are pants for anything.

i have tried 3 different drivers (92.91, 91.33 and the original ) and none of them solve the problem.

I have also tried playing warcraft 3. It is still choppy when i type and when i try to increase the volume but the game in general is smooth. i can move the people without any trouble or lag. However, movement is still laggy and choppy during CS and Gunbound.

I guess if worse come to worst, ill have to reformat. Anyone have any other suggestions?

my suggestion is to send it back to the manufacturer as a defective product. the 7600 is a great card that should run those games without problem

i already did the dual core fix so i dont think thats the problem.
i guess if no one knows the problem, ill just reformat everything and if that still does not work, ill call my manufacturer up...

Yeah, if a reformat doesn't work, it's most likely a GPU problem. That would suck, so I hope it isn't. But you def need to get it checked out.
