    consol readings predict a css crash???

    as i played, wait, not played, sat through the game freezing, i managed to read this off the consol. i have css with my 1 gig memory and X1400 512 mb shared but i made a few changes:


    i set my virtual memory to the biggest munber, which is like 32836, is that bad...

    this is what scaired me; Bad convar found in dxsupport - mat_dxlevel


    I dont like the word bad

    Well, first of all, your virtual page file should not be set that high, under ANY circumstances. The recommended amount is 1.5x your physical memory, in your case 1024*1.5 or 1536. Other than that I can't help you.

    And even then 1.5GB of swap, your machine will be dead before it uses all of that. You should only ever need 512-768 with a gig of system RAM. The 1.5x recommendation is overrated. If you set it as a 512MB virtual memory file, and let it grow up to 1.5GB, I would be VERY surprised if you ever had it grow at all.
