my old dell had intell GMA 3100 integrated
my new hp has nvidia 7400 dedicated
why is my windows experiance index gaming graphics score lower with the nvidia 7400 than it was with the intel gma 3100?

The WEI score is highly dependant on drivers and software running on the OS. It is not an industry standard benchmark, and there are many documented cases in which scores clearly did not line up with the hardware that is included in the laptop.
In other words: WEI is a pile of crap and you should be more concerned with 3dMark05 and PCMark05 scores. Those are the real benchmarks. -
agreed thats just something for bragging rights of MS

There is no way an X3100 can perform even CLOSE to a Geforce 7400. The WEI is a SERIOUS oversimplification of hardware capabilities.
You could try updating your drivers a bit, that might help. But really, it is irrelivant, the index is incorrect in your case, just ignore it. -
i think that the ati x800/go6800 received around 4,2 while x3100 gets 3,5-3,6
and that is not near the truth at least not on gaming . WEI is a lousy benchmark
8400m GS receives more graphics points than those two i above mentioned.
could someone explain this
