counter-strike 1.6 problem.

hey guys to those who still plays cs and has encounter this problem and knows how to resolve it.

so the last time i tried play csing was about 2-3 weeks ago and it was fine. But last night when i open my cs everything was fine until i connected to a game and my cs just freezes.

I've never encounter this problem so i have no idea what to do. i deleted the game and install it again, while it was updating i was able to play, but i was playing until the point it was done updating i didn't know and i exit my cs. When i open it up again and try to play again the same problem happens.

on sunday when that happen to me again i thought i'd try to see how long it would take to load and unfreeze itself, so i connected to a game and it froze, 2 hrs later it was still there.

does anyone know whats going on?

 

Changed your drivers lately?

 

i highly doubt its the drivers? SF4 works fine. cs worked fine too, 2-3 weeks ago. my laptop is in my sig. what driver should i be using?

 

Yeah me neither but just checking.

It might not be CS thats causing the crash but something else in windows. Try disabling unnecessary programs

 

hmm i really don't have anything thats running most of the time just steam, aim, firefox and winamp.

 

i want to post on steam but i cna't no post. ughhh i hate posting just to open threads. or up my count.

 

mm i'm using vista ultimate 32-bit, i've never had this problem since i had my laptop. it works after i delete it and during update, but why not when its done updating?

 

Do Half-Life or any HL mods run fine?

 

make sure you have your settings fine

perhaps some server jacked up your rates and set it so connecting to a game gets really slow.

so check your rates.

also, if you're using 1.6 through steam, delete the .blob file in the /steam/ folder, and run steam. if that doesn't work copy the cstrike folder under steam/steamapps/username/counter-strike folder and paste it on your desktop. then delete the cstrike folder back under the steam/steamapps/username/counter-strike folder and run 1.6

it should rebuild that whole folder with original settings for cs. if that doesn't work, make sure ports 27015-27020 are port forwarded.

if that doesn't work right click on 1.6 under steam (if you're using it) and click on the 'defrag game' button, and after that go to the check GCF files.

after all of that and it still doesn't work, right click the steam folder (the main folder for steam), go to properties, make sure to have the 'read only' box unchecked for all folders and subfolders.

if that doesn't work, then play source

ughhh this is pissing me off so nothing works that you mention..so i decided to uninstall steam and i'm pretty sure its gone completely but this is the problem i had before, even after uninstalling the game, i do it on add/remove programs and my STEAM folder is also gone once i delete the game so i don't have to go back to programs files to delete it. and i also run the ccleaner to delete regs. and everything BUT once i install it back, all my settings and cs name is still there,why?

 

anyone on here active on steam and can post? please just copy and paste my first post on steam and give me their replies, thankss

 

it happens to me sometimes. all i do is end CS in task manager and then try again. It always works by the 3rd try for some reason.

 

hmm i'm still getting the problem this is pissing me off!

 

it has nothing to your laptop,the problem is: this game has some problems with vista,
i have tried on 3 diff desktops and NBs,one of them plays it at very low FPS, one of them freezes during "choose your team", the other plays the game randomly , but in all of them there was no issus with xp

 

hmm i never had a problem with it though? all of a sudden the problem occurs now?
