while playing cs, when I press the decrease volume button in front of my computer, the "report radio message" occurs. I've checked to make sure that the button c was synced to the report radio message. anyone know why this occurs? Could it be the dashboard problem?

Lemme guess, volume up gives you the 'buy' option. I really have no clue why this is, but its just a glitch or whatever in counterstrike. I usually just kinda deal, because no other programs i use have this same problem.

I think it has something to do with the source engine, when I press certain media buttons while playing Garry's Mod different menus pop up. Hey there again statesoccer, you decide yet ?

I have a similar problem that was mentioned above - when I use the volume buttons on my laptop during CS:S, it attempts to bring up the Buy menu. I don't know what the cause of it is, but I have never seen that in any other game.

Those buttons use funky keycodes that aren't in the standard "realm". CS:S may just be detecting keycodes badly. I've seen lazy programmers before ;)

Rofl, yeah, thats like the time my hand was resting on the mouse pad and i bumped it twice (which produces a left mouse click, which of course fires your gun) and fired a clip into a terrorist's chest who just HAPPENED to turn a corner at that moment (unfortunately this produces more team kills than anything else, but its still funny). Sorry, again, off topic, but funny none the less.

hmmm so could this be the counter-strike engine problem and not the e1705 problem? I didn't have this problem but after I switched the dashboard( cuz one of my buttons in front didn't light up), it started this problem.

Yeah, its probably some bug with source (well, not just ONLY with the source engine, considering I have notice things in other games, but since we are talking about source, its a source bug). I might contact them and let them know (though they probably don't give a ****) about this little key mapping bug.

it's not only source. I have this problem on condition zero and regular cs 1.6. I hope they come up with a fix soon

more than likely it isnt just source, but its actually the high-level cheat detection system they use. to prevent hooks of the game they probably intercept all keypress events and the keycode sent by system-specific media buttons is non-standard, so they are interpreted based on standard 102-key keyboards. rather than allowing a non-standard keypress to go through, they force it into something the system recognizes. this is far from "lazy programming" and would actually be considered high-level safe coding.

if you want to figure out what code is being sent, there are programs that will display the code when you press a button (I actually saw a Dell one in a bootup diagnostic program on a computer at work, no idea if its standard though)
