    counter-strike v1.6 problem in vista,plz help

    Hi everyone,
    I have bought hp dv5t and i have one old pc as well , so problem is cs 1.6 is working very fine in XP in the old one where as in new one its not working in Vista.
    When i start the new game it loads and then stuck on the screen where we have to click on OK . Can anyone help me of this??????????????????????? PLZ

    Try running it in compatibility mode for XP as well as in Administrator mode (or any combination of options).

    i have done that,i also have changed many drivers for my video card but nothing helps.
    is there any patch to make it work in vista?

    Are you running it through Steam? Because it works fine for me (w/ steam).

    EDIT: if you have the key, it might be a good idea to activate it on steam so you can play it from there.

    this is a known problem.
    it is a combination of CS 1.6 v35 + Vista + IDM (Internet Download Manager).

    remove IDM to solve this.

    if you dont have IDM, then i dont know.

    i dont know the exact technical details as i HATE counter strike (not to mention ugly 1.6), it just happens that there's a lot of CS players around me so i know of this issue.

    what makes you think i have not played it?

    as i said, there's a lot of people around me who plays CS.
    so i also have to play it once in a while.

    the ironic thing is that..most of those "lot of people"
    used to play UT. now they dont. why? because
    they got their asses kicked in UT.


    CS isn't a bad game..but UT > CS any day, any time.

    UT , Quake is better then cs ONLY if you like PURE FPS, deathmatch
    But if you need tactics , teamplay, than theres nothing like CS
