For gaming purposes of SC2/BF3/Crysis 2. does anyone know by chance what would hypothetically be better.

    SB i7 2670QM
    AMD 6970m Crossfire

    or

    IB i7 uh 3700kQM?
single Nvidia 670m (or whatever new amd chip is coming out).

    just curious

Ivy Bridge won't be that big of a step forward in speed, and especially not something we'll be able to notice in games.

Im guessing Intel will keep its naming scheme so a i7 3720QM wont be all that great compared to the i7 2670QM.
But it might end up more power efficient but as gamers we dont really play on the go.

Probably not. But the first setup will be a lot less efficient than the second.

The 670M is just a 570M, so 2x 6970M will do all kinds of bad things to that card in a race.

Well, not something like BF3/SC2/Crysis without being plugged in. Unless your travelling is extremely short.
