    First, get latest catalyst.
Then oc the card a bit, not so much.
Then run crysis 2 with last patch at native res, no vsync, very high. You should get good performance.

My laptop (i5 460M, 5650, OC'd to 715/1040 hz) runs crysis 2 on advanced very smoothly and with little to no mouse lag.

Gamer setting just doesn't cut it for me. Hardcore settings are beautiful but I only get ~15 fps from it, and a huge mouse lag.

Play it on High or Very High should be fine as long as your OC isn't too high. I'd say the game runs about 5C higher than most games. So if you normally game around 78C, then expect temps to be near mid 80s with Crysis 2. Crysis 2 has an odd optimization with PC where GPU utilization always seems to be 99%.

Put it this way. Crysis 2 can be played MAX extreme settings on a laptop @ 1600*900 with 30+ FPS. But the game still has 99% GPU usage on a GTX 590 desktop on TWO GTX 580 Chips... That's really weird.

Yes, the 5650M is a cool running GPU. I've used a friend's HP and ran Furmark on it and highest temp I saw was 65C. So I wouldn't worry too much about temperatures with a 5650M.

Something is wrong. Your laptop is new, or second hand/used? Because then some thermal compound has worn out on the cpu and i guess cpu. Also, if its used, be sure that vents are clean and not filled with dust.
97C its not a normal temp, on that heat your laptop will not last long. Be warned and be careful, double check the thermal compound, and if you can, replace it.
